Q. any news on akame ga kill?

A. Actually, there IS some news coming down the pipeline regarding Akame ga Kill! Can’t say exactly what yet, but I’m sure a lot of you out there will dig it.

Now watch as it’ll be something we DIDN’T expect. Hopefully not.

A season 2?
a live action film(s)?
figs/nendoroids in the pipeline and will be part of a US Super Duper collection?

the return of sock puppet theater?
:open_mouth:

They could do an adaptation of Akame ga Kill Zero (The prequel series) but am assuming this is Sentai related

They managed to get it onto Toonami?

That would be rather impressive considering Toonami/Adult Swim’s track record.

Hmm, makes me wonder if this is the show Jamie Marchi was working on when she was in Sentai town a little while ago…

Pretty cool.

So it’s coming to Toonami before DVD/BD?

Pretty sure it’s a safe bet which character she’d be lol

Maybe both her AND Jessica Boone.
Guess now I’ll have a reason to tune in to Toonami, until the BDs ship that is. Then it’s, “See ya sucka!” or until another cool something pops up.

I guess this can finally put to rest the crazy rumors of thinking Sentai Filmworks and Toonami didn’t have a good relationship or that they simply refused to put their shows on the block.

Anime show to premiere on August 8

The staff of Adult Swim’s Toonami block announced during their MomoCon panel on Saturday that the block will run the Akame ga KILL! and Michiko & Hatchin television anime. Akame ga KILL! will premiere on August 8, while Michiko & Hatchin will premiere on June 20.

Akame ga KILL! will be Sentai Filmworks’ first show to premiere on the current Toonami block. The anime adapts the manga series written by Takahiro with art by Tetsuya Tashiro. The dark action fantasy manga follows the title character Akame, a girl who was bought and raised by the Empire as an assassin. After meeting Akame, a boy named Tatsumi vows to stand up to the evil of the corrupt Empire with the secret assassin group Night Raid and special weapons known as Teigu.

The anime premiered last July, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series in North America. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

Now that you bring it up, it makes me wonder if this is the Luci/Chris pairing Chris mentioned a couple weeks ago.

If it is, I’d say for Akame ga Kill it would be these roles
Chris - Tatsumi
Luci - Esdeath
Jamie - Leone

She’s probably more fitting as Mine, with the whole Kaname/tsundere thing.

Luci as Esdeath? I’d be somewhat surprised by that as Luci is typecast as little boys or bratty girls, at least in my mind: like Coffee I’d have her pegged as Mine.

Tatsumi might be a good place for Patton to fit in, though I’m kinda hoping against it, as it seems a given that the string-wielder Lubbock is a mortal lock for a “Josh Grelle”-type of actor and Patton as the ultra-creepy pompadour guy, Bulat, would probably go over with the fandom as well as Greg Ayres as the meathead in Little Busters did.

Maybe this is what they’re “defrosting” Matt Greenfield for? This dub is going to need someone who is a master at walking the tightrope between silly and serious, especially since the show itself stumbled in that regard and comedy is difficult to dub regardless.

Q. I know Akame ga Kill is going to be on Toonami, but any idea on when it will get a home video release?

A. Not QUITE sure about a release date yet, but there’s been talk around the office about it, so it’s really only a matter of time before a release date is decided for it. Stay tuned!

Since they won’t interfere with the Toonami broadcast Part 1 will be in either Oct or Nov and Part 2 probably not until Feb 2016 at the latest…

Q. When is Akame ga Kill going to get a home video release and will it be english dubbed?

A. Same deal as Parasyte, Akame ga Kill! will receive additional release info as it airs or right when it finished airing on Toonami. Yes, it will be dubbed.
