Amagi Brilliant Park

I’m not so sure as I’m certainly not a big fan of the studio and I’m not much for FMP after it imploded but I’m finding this show to be somewhat fun. It has all the “tropes” of the genre but it has put enough of a spin on 'em so that it doesn’t topple over lol.

ABP is a show about a narcissistic, elitist liar who is coerced into helping a militant, socially awkward girl with the problems that she finds that she can’t solve with the “business end” of her gun (and not for lack of trying). Chief among those problems is managing the titular theme park.

It is strikingly similar to Sentai’s Outbreak Company, only better so far. Better in every way, unless you liked the naive idealism and wimpiness of the main leads of that (and that show’s blatant otaku pandering).

Not to mention the cutest maid ever.

The only thing that ABP has in that area is a delicate princess character.

The similarities between ABP and Outbreak Company are so intense that if you liked Outbreak then you ought to at least give this a try IMO. Both shows could be summed up as “human male gets entangled with a plot to bring entertainment to a magical world that lacks it”.

The male protagonist is more akin to the one in Trinity Seven and the female protagonist is somewhere between the tomboy of Clannad and Shiki from Garden of Sinners (whatever one calls that moe stereotype). Perhaps that’s a more politic way to put it.

Why not?

Maybe because technically, there’s no legal streams in the US?

Perhaps.

Luckily the lack of Crunchy exposure isn’t hurting this show’s spread through the fandom.

Looks like it is indeed being handled by TBS, as they were promoting it at MIPCOM 2014 (October 13 - 16)
So I guess now, it’s just a waiting game to see when Sentai announces it.

I see they placed it next to Rail Wars!, another surprisingly-better-than-expected show.

If indeed this does “seal the deal” for the last mystery license from Sentai then the correct choice was made: ABP is much more of a “Sentai show” and, in as much as two disparate shows can be compared, ABP kicks Parasyte’s rear 6 ways to Sunday.

There was some buzz about the humorous euphemism used in the Crunchy translation of Parasyte. Suffice it to say that translations used in ep 6 have that beat.

Also, it seems that Eddie Eagle needs to be introduced to the magical world; when magical bullets go up, do they come back down?

Pirate Isuzu needs some representation:

The show needs more representation in North America.

I am a bit shocked at the lower budget KyoAni work in episode 7 of this. The “broadcast dub” and the high-quality art and animation are the only things getting me through LutC and I unfortunately watched that before watching ep 7 of this and that made the cheapy animation and mercurial-model art in it stand out like a sore thumb :frowning:

Episode 8 features the “main dude” walking around with a giant zipper on his head…

Isuzu Sento Cosplay:

The pacing for this series was so spot-on that it could have ended rather well at Episode 12. Episode 13 is going to feel like a bonus ep after that.

Kyoto Animation TV anime’s final volume to ship on June 26

The seventh Blu-ray Disc and DVD release of Kyoto Animation’s Amagi Brilliant Park anime will include a special unaired episode. The release will also include the 13th and final episode that aired on television. The television series’ seventh Blu-ray Disc and DVD release is slated to ship in Japan on June 26.

The release will also include the “Waku Waku Mini Theater Rakugaki Backstage Sono 7” video, specially illustrated cases, special guide, stickers, and cast and staff commentaries. The limited-edition Blu-ray Disc release will cost 6,975 yen (about US$58), while the limited-edition DVD will cost 5,975 yen (US$50).

The “Amagi Brilliant Park Kaien 30 Shūnen Kinen Premium Event” (Amagi Brilliant Park Opening 30th Anniversary Commemorative Premium Event) will be held in Tokyo’s Kadokawa Cinema Shinjuku on April 26 at 7:00 p.m. The anime’s main voice cast members will attend the event, and tickets will cost 3,800 yen (US$32).

The television series directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto (Full Metal Panic!, Lucky Star, Hyōka) premiered in Japan in October. The anime’s third Blu-ray Disc and DVD release shipped in Japan on Friday.

The “slapstick drama” begins with Seiya Kanie, a high school boy who is invited on a date in an amusement park by a mysterious beautiful transfer student named Isuzu Sento. He is introduced to Latifah, a “real” princess and the park’s manager, and is asked to be the acting manager of this “disappointing amusement park in the Tokyo suburbs.”

Shoji Gatoh (Full Metal Panic!) launched the original light novel series with illustrations by Yuka Nakajima (Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father!/Papa Kiki!) in 2013. Fantasia Bunko published the fifth compiled volume last October.

Amagi Brilliant Park’ Anime Special Edition OVA Gets Promo

Amagi Brilliant ParkAmagai Brilliant Park recently revealed that the seventh volume of the series in Japan from Kadokawa will have an OVA with it featuring an unaired episode, and now the first promo for it has arrived from them. The disc is set to land on June 26th, 2015 and will have the last episode of the TV series and the OVA after it. No details are available as to what extras will be available with this installment.

The thirteen episode series is getting a seven volume run in total. The Blu-ray releases are priced at 7,533 yen each while the DVD releases are 6,453 yen each. Each installment will come with a new mini theater bonus and a staff commentary. The first volume comes with some pretty nice goods as there’s a reformed Sugoroku game, a guide and a sticker, which are obviously all themed around the park.

The anime adaptation comes from Kyoto Animation as it deals with the light novel by Shoji Gatoh. Yasuhiro Takemoto is directing the series, which marks a pretty good return in a way since he previously directed two Full Metal Panic series and recently worked on shows like Hyouka for Kyoto Animation.

The series stars Kouki Uchiyama as Seiya Kanie, Ai Kakuma as Isuzu Sento, Yukiyo Fujii as Latifah Fullanza, Shiori Mikami as Kobori, Ryoko Shiraishi as Macaron, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Sylphy, Ayako Kawasumi as Moffle, Yuka Aisaka as Muse, Minami Tsuda as Salama and Ai Nonaka as Tirami.

Plot concept:

The story centers around a high school student Seiya Kanie. On a Sunday, a mysterious transfer student who carries a musket gun Isuzu Sento takes him to an old and deserted amusement park Amagi Brilliant Park in Amagi-city, which is located in the western part of Tokyo. He is told that if the park can’t attract 100,000 visitors in the next two weeks, it will be closed immediately. For some reason, Seiya has to save the park as an acting manage
