Attack on Titan / Shingeki no Kyojin

Heard the new theme song. I thought that the original song needed to be heavier, that it lacked zazz. This new theme song is even lighter and less inspiring. Oh well, it’s not bad but it isn’t something I’d go out of my way to listen to :frowning:

I’m pleased that they managed to contain what they started in ep 14 to ep 14, that they didn’t drag it out in a long and boring manner as other shows (eg:star trek) have done with the same sort of thing.

Speaking of things, what is the sex of the silver-haired glasses-wearing androgynous soul who was seated next to Mikasa during the ep?

I still think that the “plan” shown in the ep was ridiculous. Especially after other people had just given their “he’s a murderous sociopath with a hair temper and Hulk power” speech. On one hand, doing what he did after those speeches were given proves a point by showing those naysayers that they were half wrong. On the other, it could have just as easily have proved them 100% right.

Did anyone else have Now and Then, Here and There flashbacks during that scene?

this just happened.

And this too…

I actually saw the “Attack on Gaben” thing around on the internets. This show is everywhere. Sadly the subs for this have some issues.

Gabe Newell seems to fit the role as that Titan so well…in addition to being the perfect actor for a live action Peter Griffin.

Watching that youtube video at 480 makes me despair for anyone who decides to watch this on DVD when Funi eventually releases it. Just thinking about that makes my eyes hurt a bit.

I actually wasn’t a fan of ep 14. That was “boring crazy” as opposed to “interesting crazy”. What would Sigmund Freud say about that episode…

BTW, why is the paper cutout depict her as being almost Eric Cartman (South Park) level fat? How is she supposed to fly through the air and fight titans when she looks like Jabba the Hutt? Speaking of Freud, I don’t see the fascination with the spaz (depicted here) shoving food into her mouth. She hasn’t even been shown doing it in weeks. Hasn’t that fad died out yet?

It’s made in chibi style.

Perhaps that was the intention but that’s not the final result. That was a chibi-fail. An epic chibi fail: they went for “chibi” but missed it and ended up with something that is just “chubby”.

It continues to puzzle me how, out of all the interesting stuff that happens in Titan, there exists a group of people who see a seldom-shown side character stuffing food that its longer than it is wide into her mouth and they say, “That. That right there is the ‘take-away’ from this series. That’s what Attack on Titan is all about; that’s why I watch this show.”

you just dont understand Sasha’s plight! what she went through because of a potato. how she stole meat from the lazy MPs for the trainees, what FOOD means to those within the walls!

does nobody pay attention to the story and what happened when Wall Maria fell? Did everyone forget everything before Trost as Wall Rose was falling?

Sasha ran 5 hours for that potato even after offering some of it to the trainer! 5 hours! maybe if you knew more about Sasha or paid attention to her in the series you would understand. also if you look at her as not the typical pretty anime girl, but just one that looks decent but is more like an Osaka-girl, country bumpkin, etc… you would realize she is a BIG connection point for many a reader.

why do people still do things with Naruto and Sasuke kissing? the series beat them to that ship!

the bento collosal titan is funny but really, an anatomic model with muscles attached is something you can see in any sciene lab or online. someone fighting to have a potato is unique.

she is the anti-Gollum also. she wants to keep her nasty po-ta-to, and the cutout making her look like a filthy hobbitses is very cute and funny!

i think you people jsut don’t like potatoes! no fries for you!

Good thing you’re not in charge of picture classification. Its parody art. Doesn’t really matter if they’re short, fat, or have the wrong proportions let alone have the ability to function as they do in the anime they appear in. The artist drew it for kicks, something cute & silly. Enjoy it for what it is you picky bitch.

Episode 12 –

Pixis takes responsibility for sending his troops to their deaths. But he hopes the price was worth it. Meanwhile, Eren is still attacking Mikasa and no one can figure out why. While she tries to talk some sense into him and remind him of his mission, Riko sends up the red flare, indicating the mission is a failure. He did that too soon, I think. Mikasa is ordered back as more Titans approach. The others want to abandon Eren and retreat and I just loved the look of challenge on Mikasa’s face! What will Ian do?

Pixis and his soldiers see the red smoke and know the mission went wrong. Some begin to mourn that their friends just died for nothing. Word quickly spreads that the mission failed and Armin takes off. Pixis is advised to recall his men, but he refuses. He wants his elite force to continue its mission and die with honor, so that the others would not have died in vain.

Ian is reluctant to give the order to retreat. He finally makes a decision and orders his squad to fight the approaching Titans, giving Eren a chance. Ian sees the value of Eren, but his men do not. Riko and Mitabi argue with his decision to stay and fight, but Ian’s impassioned speech finally convinces them. The men run off to fight, leaving Mikasa behind to protect Eren. And she has her own doubts.

Eren isn’t sure what’s going on. He envisions himself back at home with his family and decides to go back to sleep. Armin arrives to find him this way. Meanwhile, more soldiers are sent to keep the Titans in the corner of the city. Mikasa is fighting, but more Titans keeps coming and she thinks they are being drawn to Eren. Armin finds her and wants to know what’s wrong with Eren. She briefs Armin on what happened and what is going to happen because they can’t leave Eren. The plan has completely failed and she tells Armin to get back. But Armin decides that he will try to cut Eren out of the Titan instead.

However, Armin’s strike awakens the Titan and Mikasa orders him to stop. She thinks Armin’s plan to save Eren is insane, but she goes off to fight, leaving Armin to do what he can. Armin’s blade had struck Eren in the arm and he now tries to talk Eren into coming out of the Titan. He doesn’t want Eren to give in to the Titan, but that is exactly what Eren is doing. To Eren’s mind, he’s still at him with his family and Armin is banging on the window. Eren doesn’t know what Armin is yelling about. Avenging his mother’s death? But his mother is right there. Armin continues his yelling, but Eren still doesn’t understand him. Eren is happy where he is and doesn’t want to leave.

More soldiers die as Armin reminds Eren of the world they want to explore beyond the walls. That seems to finally wake Eren up. His illusion shatters as the Titan awakens! But he still hasn’t regenerated and I wonder what he can even do at this point.

Titan Eren is finally awake and everyone watches as he slowly carries the boulder to the gate. Ian gives the order to protect him at all costs. Mikasa and Armin are ordered to go to Eren and keep his path clear. More lose their lives as Eren heads towards the gate and Eren thinks of his friends and comrades, wishing them all to fight on. Eren throws the boulder against the broken gate, successfully blocking it. It’s a small victory that came at a great price, but for the first time, it’s a victory against the Titans and gives the others hope.

Pixis receives the signal that indicates a successful mission and sends out reinforcements. The Titans are returning to the gate where Eren is, and Armin and Mikasa stay to retrieve him. Part of Eren is still fused with his Titan body and he needs to be cut free. But once that’s done, it’s too late to get away – the Titans are upon them! The three of them are saved by Captain Levi of the Survey Corps, and he just wants to know what is going on.

Now that the gate is sealed, the remaining Titans within Trost are dealt with. One 4-meter and one 7-meter are captured alive. Many humans are either dead or missing and the soldiers begin to gather the bodies of their comrades. Jean finds Marco is among the dead, as another group finds a pile of bodies that a Titan threw up. More friends and comrades are found among the dead, but there’s no time to mourn. That can come after the bodies are collected and burned.

Eren has been chained and locked up! I can’t believe they did that to him. Even after he helped, he still isn’t trusted. Eren wakes to find Commander Erwin and Captain Levi outside of his cell. Eren isn’t sure where he is and Erwin explains that he has been placed in custody by the Military Police and put in this underground jail cell. Erwin has the key to Eren’s basement too and he knows exactly what secrets that key will unlock – the mystery of the Titans.

However, to get to Eren’s house in Zhiganshina, they need to use Eren’s power again, this time to seal the hole in Wall Maria. Erwin asks Eren what he wants to do. Eren chooses to join the Survey Corps and “just slaughter the Titans”! Levi tells Erwin that he will take responsibility for Eren, but he doesn’t trust him, and will personally kill Eren if he loses control again. He tells Eren that his request is granted and that he may join the Survey Corps. I’m sure Mikasa and Armin will be joining as well. I just want to see what is in that basement!

Sasha ran 5 hours for that potato even after offering some of it to the trainer! 5 hours! maybe if you knew more about Sasha or paid attention to her in the series you would understand. also if you look at her as not the typical pretty anime girl, but just one that looks decent but is more like an Osaka-girl, country bumpkin, etc… you would realize she is a BIG connection point for many a reader.[/quote]

Such language.

Anyhow, I subscribe to the “call it how it is” school of thought, and so I call low-quality art on its lack of quality. You obviously subscribe to the school of art that judges based on feeling and “effort” instead of true merit, the school that considers a “mural” made by a child with its own feces to be a masterpiece.

She ran for 5 hours because she offered part of the potato to the drill instructor. As for “paying attention” to her in the series I’ve seen what little they’ve shown of her. I don’t know about “looking decent”: if you discount the face she, like every other female character in Titan, looks like the scrawnier males. Why is a brainless country bumpkin “a big connection point for many a reader”?

There’s no such school of anything you just said, that’s just redonkulous even as sarcasm. It’s art regardless of quality. But, speaking of quality, this picture in particular, is good for the type/style of drawing that is presented. The shading on her body as well as with the wrinkles in her clothing are spot on where they should be and give her a sense of 3D or depth. I’m not looking at how she as a parody drawing could function as she would in the anime because I don’t feel that’s what the artist intended.

edit*
p.s. I’m pretty sure there’s a child prodigy out there who could(if he wanted to) paint a masterpiece with his own shit.

Ok, that’s enough.

Stay on topic - Attack on Titan.

No more discussion about art style since y’all can’t seem to keep it nice.

This is the only warning. And I have the final word. Not joking.

NO, she ran 5 hours because she STOLE the potato. please re-watch the episode. after watching again to get your facts straight, we can discuss how people can connect with ehr or you could also search for potato memes…

Samwise: PO-TA-TO!

Ep. 17

Theory time…

So who do you think that female titan is?
Do you think it’s someone we already met or someone else?

At this point, right now I’m of the mind that it’s Annie (that blonde girl who didn’t join the Survey Corps). As it looks almost like her character and even has those sinister looking eyes.

Definitely a plot spoiler. read on if you dare.

spoiler

I have a bigger revelation Mr. Coffee and I think you’ll like. After Reiner cuts his way out of the female titan’s hand and he’s running away carrying Armin watch Reiner very closely, he does something you might find very peculiar.

spoiler

If it has to be someone we already know, then it’s most definitely Annie. Her eyes and hair are the same, and she’s the only one who moves like that. I’m sure some time in the next episode or two, she’ll fight Eren and use the same takedown maneuver she used on him in training, and then there’ll be a flashback or something and then they’ll all be like “no ways!” Or they’ll all be dead, there’s that too.

spoiler

You mean the part right after he gets visibly crushed by the Titan, spurting blood all over, and then somehow makes it out of her grip without so much as a scratch on him? That part? Yeah I don’t know what you’re talking about, I don’t see anything… :stuck_out_tongue:

And don’t you find it odd, that after their lengthy conversation about their misinformation about the location of the special ops squad, and finally deciding that their true location is the center rear… That’s exactly where the female titan heads toward after her encounter with Reiner? I would say, and this is pure speculation mind you… that their both working together on this. Hm…

Having read the manga up to the current chapter, just be ready to have your mind blown as to some of the revelations coming up. I figure they’re going to end season one with the fight between Eren and Spoiler within Wall spoiler.

spoiler

Right after he picks up Armin and the screen switches to a close up of Reiner yelling about “we’ve bought enough time”. its very subtle and easy to miss. on crunchyroll its 21min and 44sec in.

Yea Series I’ve read the manga up to the most recent chapter as well. Good stuff isn’t it?
