(It took three weeks after itâs release and two weeks after the copy finally arrived for me to have a peaceful chance to read itâŠ)
Third of the way thru andâŠno.
Guess Iâm one of those few who doesnât believe this is the âmodern classicâ that so many insist it is.
First person narrative, annoying protagonist who canât/wonât shut up for a second, unfunny/cringe comedyâŠ
The worldbuilding is interesting but that canât make up for the minuses already mentioned.
After the chore that was the book above, decided to read this one again: to cleanse the palate, see if itâs still a fun romp, etcâŠ
And it still is; so very pulpy in that Conan the Barbarian way. Had more fun reading this D&D inspired novel than the latest D&D movie.
Books 1 - 3
These were a surprise; a pleasant one at that. Not at all what I was expecting: a raunchy, triple x, NSFW-fest, ala Interspecies Reviewers or Redo of Healer.
Instead, itâs more of a post-war reconstruction travelogue with a âstranger in a strange land/wandering the earthâ hook. I also got a sort of Quantum Leap vibe from the 2 main protagonists and how they bantered with each other.
Hopefully vol. 4 doesnât poop the bed like so many LNs do. At least the ones Iâve read.

You should check out Ghost Reaper Girl itâs by Ikeda as well but he does it under a different pen name Akissa Saike. Itâs more of a reverse harem this time as the MC is woman and surrounded by mostly guys, except for Shoggoth. Premise is she can possess sprits and use their abilities⊠if you like R+V give it a shot
