###Disney Channel Announces Second Season of “Gravity Falls”
A second season of the hit Disney Channel series “Gravity Falls” has been ordered, it was announced today by Eric Coleman, Senior Vice President, Original Series, Disney Television Animation. The animated comedy, created and executive-produced by Alex Hirsch, follows twin brother and sister Dipper (voiced by Jason Ritter) and Mabel Pines (voiced by Kristen Schaal) as they spend summer with their eccentric great uncle Stan (voiced by Hirsch), in the wondrous town of Gravity Falls. The series’ growing fan base looks for the unique “secret message” at the end of each episode’s credits. The key for decoding the message is incorporated in various episodes.
In making the announcement, Coleman said, “‘Gravity Falls’ is mystery, comedy and weird all rolled into one unique show – there is nothing else like it. Alex Hirsch and his team have crafted a show with memorable characters, multi-layered stories, and production values that are rarely seen in television animation.”
Throughout the month of August, Disney and SUBWAY® restaurants, the world’s largest restaurant chain, will bring fans “Gravity Falls” characters and promotional items through SUBWAY Fresh Fit for Kids™ Meals™. Each low-fat meal will include one of six reusable bags, with a specially designed “Gravity Falls” window decal or sticker.
As of 2013, Gravity Falls is TV’s #1 animated series across Kids 2-11 (2.0 million/5.1 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.6 million/6.7 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.3 million/5.4 rating).
Anime of Takara Tomy’s latest marble-shooting toys/games
A commercial on The CW television channel announced that Takara Tomy and d-rights’ B-Daman Crossfire anime series will premiere in the United States on Saturday, August 17 at 10:30 a.m. The series will be part of the Vortexx block, which is now running Dragon Ball Z Kai, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. CW describes the story:
The story takes place in year 20XX - in the town of “East City,” where the toy “B-Daman” is popular with children.
“Riki Ryugasaki” is an elementary school boy in this town.
He wants to be an adventurer when he grows up and his favorite word is “mystery.” Riki has a lively personality, but can be a bit of an airhead at times - he marches to the beat of his own drum.
One day Riki is taken to his first B-Daman event by his childhood friend and classmate, “Sumi Inaba.” Although he doesn’t participate as a player, Riki’s natural curiosity sparks an interest towards B-Daman. And when Riki hears an urban legend about “a secret B-Daman tournament (a tournament that only a very selected group of players are allowed to participate)” spreading amongst the children of the town, he is even strongly attracted to B-Daman.
The Japanese company d-rights confirmed with ANN last year that the company plans to release the Cross Fight B-Daman television anime worldwide under the name B-Daman CrossFire. The plans included a home video release along with the English-dubbed television broadcast. The company also confirmed with ANN that it plans to release the Cross Fight B-Daman eS sequel series, with a target date of fall 2014.
In 2010, Takara Tomy relaunched its B-Daman game franchise of marble-shooting toys under the name Cross Fight B-Daman, with original character designs by Yūji Nagai (A Penguin’s Troubles (manga). The Cross Fight B-Daman anime is a tie-in to the new version of the toys, and Kenji Fujisaki adapted Nagai’s character designs for television. The first series premiered in October 2011, and Cross Fight B-Daman eS premiered in Japan last October.

DISNEY XD’S NEW LIVE-ACTION COMEDY SERIES “MIGHTY MED” STARRING POPULAR DISNEY CHANNEL STARS BRADLEY STEVEN PERRY AND JAKE SHORT PREMIERES MONDAY, OCTOBER 7
Disney XD’s “Mighty Med,” a new live-action comedy series starring popular Disney Channel stars Bradley Steven Perry (“Good Luck Charlie”) and Jake Short (“A.N.T. Farm”), premieres as a special one-hour event MONDAY, OCTOBER 7 (8:30-9:30 p.m., ET/PT).
“Mighty Med” chronicles the adventures of two teenage best friends Kaz (played by Perry) and Oliver (played by Short) who land after school jobs of a lifetime at Mighty Med, a secret hospital for superheroes, sci-fi and fantasy characters. There, they discover that their favorite characters are real and secretly live among them. ###Disney XD Shakes Schedule Up: Moves Marvel Block, Removes Animated Comedy Premieres
First off, starting Tuesday, Kickin’ It will now air weekday mornings at 8:30am, replacing Phineas and Ferb. Then at 9am will be Wizards of Waverly Place, replacing Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures followed by an extra Suite Life of Zack & Cody replacing the rotating half-hour of animated series. Lastly on weekdays, Pac-Man will now air at noon, replacing the afternoon showing of Ultimate Spider-Man.
Now’s where the bigger changes come in: Starting next Saturday, November 16, the 8:30-10:30am line-up of animated comedies are gone, including premieres of Packages from Planet X, Xiaolin Chronicles and Camp Lakebottom. They will all be replaced by repeats of Disney XD’s live-action sitcoms Lab Rats, Kickin’ It and Mighty Med. Max Steel will still have premieres at 8am.
Sundays also see a change: Marvel Universe shifts from 11am to 8am. Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Avengers Assemble will now have premiere episodes at 8:00am and 8:30am, respectively. As you guessed it, live-action sitcom repeats will fill the 11am time Marvel used to occupy.
In fact, if you look at day-by-day schedules, Disney XD is really pushing their live-action sitcoms hard. Even harder than normal. For example, this Sunday (Nov. 10) alone Lab Rats is airing 13 times, Kickin’ It is airing 8 times and Mighty Med 9 times. Next Sunday (Nov. 17), Lab Rats is scheduled for a massive 21 showings, thanks to an afternoon marathon in addition to other timeslots. Nevertheless, these sitcoms also have numerous weekday slots as well.
###“Digimon Fusion” Joins Vortexx Starting January 25
via Saban Brands press release:
Get Digitized with More Digimon Fusion than Ever Before!
Digimon Fusion to Air on Vortexx on The CW in Addition to Nicktoons,
Celebrating with a Digi-Fused Online Fan Promotion Throughout January
and New Online Game
Los Angeles, CA (January 14, 2014) – Saban Brands announced today plans to provide fans with more Digimon Fusion than ever before! Following its fall 2013 debut on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons, starting Jan. 25, the animated series and sixth season of the hugely successful Digimon franchise will join the Vortexx on The CW lineup, airing every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. EST/PST. With exciting new fusion powers and endless battle possibilities, Digimon Fusion is the perfect addition to the Vortexx on The CW block.
If you’ve been watching B-Daman Crossfire on Vortexx, you might have noticed a…“problem” with the episode order. They skipped episodes 20-22 for unknown reasons. It could be that they wanted Digimon Fusion to air on the 25th. I personally was quite confused and noticed something wasn’t quite right seeing how fast we got to the season finale but you can watch them dubbed on Youtube.
EDIT: Look for these episodes.

###Vortexx Ending? The CW Goes for E/I This Fall, Ending Broadcast Kids TV
Our friends (and web hosts) over at toonzone have discovered that a new five-hour E/I programming block is headed for The CW this fall – meaning that Saban Brands’ Vortexx block is over.
Launched in August 2012, the almost two-year old block has remained largely unchanged for the last year, with only the addition of Digimon Fusion repeats.
Right now, it is unclear what will happen to the other Vortexx programs. Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, the only show currently airing actual premiere episodes on the block, does repeat on Nicktoons.
As the article notes, this will bring an end to traditional Saturday morning broadcast programming for kids. Broadcasters ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and now The CW are all showcasing E/I (educational and informational) programming to meet the FCC requirements. NBC’s programming does include repeats from the Sprout television network, but it is targeted towards preschoolers.
As we mentioned back in 2012, Vortexx faced a tough uphill battle. It would seem they gave up.
It’s the end of an era. With the termination of Vortexx, the fact that the anime flow is still with Disney XD, this thread will continue to exist.
Now there’s the matter of what will happen to B-Daman Fireblast [strike]Crossfire S2[/strike] and Sendokai Champions. Kai will go to Toonami and Yu-Gi-Oh/Zexal and Digimon Fusion air on Nicktoons so nothing lost on the anime portion.
