None of the theatres near me that have elected to show this film are showing it on all of those days, and on the days on which they are showing it they are only offering one showing each.
Given that Funi has cranked up the hype machine on this one, I expected more.
While I had no interest in this one (I can’t countenance that dub), some of my friends and acquaintances did and it looks like they’re going to miss it due to these wonky showtimes. The Gantz live action movie had a better distribution.

Voice actor Lee Tockar reported on Tuesday that he plays Frieza in Ocean Group’s English dub of the Dragon Ball Z Kai “coming out soon.” Ocean Group dubbed the beginning of the original Dragon Ball Z anime into English for Funimation, and continued with dubbing more episodes for release outside the United States. Funimation already dubbed Dragon Ball Z Kai for the United States without Ocean Group.
The website for the Cinema City theater in Tokyo’s Tachikawa City lists the 2015 Dragon Ball Z film as opening on April 25. It also lists the film as 120 minutes long, but Japanese theaters often list that length as a placeholder until the finalized runtime is known. (A theater chain listed Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo as 120 minutes long during production, but the final film without extras was 95 minutes long.)
Dragon Ball manga creator Akira Toriyama is personally credited with the original concept, screenplay and character designs of the new movie “that the entire universe eagerly awaits!!” The movie will open during the Golden Week string of holidays next spring (April 25 is the Saturday before those holidays next year), and a flyer revealed that Dragon Ball Z animation director Tadayoshi Yamamuro will direct the new movie.

The January 2015 issue of Shueisha’s V Jump magazine is revealing on Friday the first key visual for the upcoming 2015 Dragon Ball Z film. The magazine also unveils the film’s title: Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F (Dragon Ball Z: F Is For Fukkatsu, or ‘resurrection’).
The image features not only Frieza, but Beerus, the villain from last year’s Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. The magazine also confirms that the film will premiere in Japanese theaters on April 18 in both 2D and 3D.
In an interview with original creator Akira Toriyama in the magazine, he says that the ‘F’ in the title in fact stands for “Frieza,” who will be revived in the film. Toriyama noted that he thought of the title while listening to the song “F” by Band Maximum The Hormone, who he came to know personally through a friend. In fact, one of the members told him that they had been singing the song about Frieza.
The magazine describes the story:
Also being revealed are two new characters who were designed by Akira Toriyama himself: Sorbet (seen left in the image above) and Tagoma (right). The characters are the survivors of the Frieza army and his servants.

New Dragon Ball game for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC to ship in Japan on February 5
The February 2015 issue of Shueisha’s V Jump magazine is revealing on Saturday that Super 17 from Dragon Ball GT will appear in the upcoming Dragon Ball Xenoverse game. The magazine will also announce that the game will feature an original video anime (OVA) relating to the events in the game.
The game will ship for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles in Japan on February 5, and the first copies will include a download code for Akira Toriyama’s manga hero Jaco the Galactic Patrolman as a playable character. Other early bonuses include a download code for a Master Roshi set for character customization, a Trunks:Xeno battle card for the Dragon Ball Heroes game, and a serial code to use Trunks:Xeno in the Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle smartphone game.
In Dragon Ball Xenoverse, players take on the role of an original character who teams up with Trunks and the Kai of Time to stop the new characters Towa and Mira from changing the course of history in the Dragon Ball story.
Bandai Namco Games unveiled the game in Japan in May and announced in June that the game will receive a Western release. In addition to the consoles, the game will be available on PC on the Steam platform.
