Spoilers ahoy!!!
Starting with Hidomi dissolving in an apocalyptic town, being chased by the Medical Mechanica Iron plants from S1 EP6, she sees a creature (Mabye Atomsk?), who opens itās eye and activates a N.O. portal in Hidomiās head, transforming her into a Neo-Kanti.
If this alone doesnāt say itās gonna be good, nothing will.
Hidomi herself seems like a good replacement for Naota. Where as Naota felt like he was intellectually superior to others placing himself above his friends and family, Hidomi wishes for the world to be reborn and places herself outside of groups. This puts both of them being some level of socially awkward in the general picture.
Juliaās BelAir is beautiful, I must point that out.
Multiple N.O. portal characters is something shown from S1, as both Eri Ninamori and Commander Amarao were able to access the ability. It seems like that concept will be fully implemented for Progressive, as both Hidomi and Ide activated N.O. portals in this episode.
As with Alternative, the only character returning in ep 1 is Haruka, who is disguised as a teacher this time around.
Btw, she was really showing āadult videosā to her class?!?
The music is awesome. Little Busters returns as a pseudo epilouge song, and Spiky Seeds is a great choice for the ED.
Speaking of, the ED is intriguing. While it canāt top the live action Vespa, it sure is better than Alternativeās ED. Haruka catching Atomsk, then splitting into two entities: Herself and Julia. Then both of them in their respective vehicles driving past images of most of the main characters from all 3 series. Maybe this is a clue that Alternative is a prequel? Since it goes Alt - OG - Pro, it might be a sign.
This may be my eyes again, but Progressiveās art designs seem closer to OG than Altās. Nowhere near as soft.
Overall, this episode feels like the true successor of FLCL, so I shall wait with baited breath until next Saturday night to see if this hype train continues.
Now I shall depart so I can watch this again
