From the New World / Shin Sekai Yori

I heard it from Chris Ayres himself at Ohayocon 2014. He was done on wensday on the week of the convention. Sentai gave him the word to speak about it.

Wow, so he has already dubbed this even though it won’t be released for 2 months?!

If so, maybe they can slow down the “warp speed” dubbing a bit (sometimes I think that Sentai is going at the forbidden Warp 10 lol). Maybe even put on a commentary track so we all can hear about Chris Ayres’ dubbing techniques and who these newer actors are…but I shouldn’t say that as it isn’t likely to happen; ADV set the bar pretty darn high.

Sounds like Ohayocon was the place to be as Chris Ayres has never seemed that forthcoming with dub info at the other cons that I see him at. Last time I saw one of his panels he filled it mostly with a discussion about his plans to have some pro costumer fix him up with a Dr. Who cosplay as he says that he looks like one of the older Doctors…I wouldn’t know.

Looks as though they rounded up all of the usual suspects, though Matranga, Bickham & Emily “better brina” Neves are a tad uncommon these days.

This show sounds appealing but I can’t test it out as Crunchyroll really can’t deliver the required video quality on this one for me; banding is a crime. It seems like a show that could be interesting, and Chris Ayres did do Maria Holic but this is two unknowns…

Ambivalence :frowning:

I just remember I couldn’t watch it after a while.

How come?

Story was too jumpy for me. And it felt as though I needed to know about something before coming into the story as well, so I was kinda lost as to what the hell was going on.

If I hadn’t been informed that the sapphic scenes on this cover do not really represent the show I would have gotten the wrong impression about this one.

Were there Japanese extras for this? After Maria-Holic’s were somewhat entertaining I could sort of stand to see some more of them.

Lots.
But you’re comparing a Media Factory title to a TV Asahi title in this case.
It’s mostly dependent on if the company holding the international license has access to the extras and can license it out.
In Media Factory’s case, they tend to be able to license out the extras and even OSTs (note: all of Sentai’s releases that have come with an OST thus far have been a Media Factory title)

This, I believe, was Sentai’s first TV Asahi title and I’m not sure how much of the production they have access to since this seems to be Sentai’s first release from them, so there’s not really a baseline for it.

That being said though, since this doesn’t come with any extras, I’d say TV Asahi didn’t have access to them.

-edit-
Then again, this is only the first collection of the series, and the second collection isn’t solicited yet (most likely July) so any extras, if there are any, might pop up on the second collection.

Episodes 1-13 (Dub) are live at ANO

The subtitles for the ending credits for episode 1 are mistimed, coming in about a second late. Let’s aim for a perfect release for this series

Now that episodes 01 through 04 are available on VOD, I can get my wife interested in it.

Episode 04 has a nice info-dump; it’s good to watch all four episodes one right after another.

Q. with the release of the complete collection of From the New World coming in February, does that pretty much eliminate the chance of a CE release?

A. It eliminates the chance of a CE any time soon, but not entirely. It may be a while be fore we revisit the title, but this certainly does not close the book on us doing anything else with the series. Whether or not something materializes in the future is another matter. Thanks!

Q. What’s the difference between your complete collection of From the New World and the two parts? Just new artwork?

A. The content of the From the New World Complete Collection is the same as the previous two releases; however, it’s consolidated into a single package.
