How do they think this compares to the original to whatever they’ve seen? So far the majority of fans of the original seem disappointed with the early to mid episodes.[/quote]
They still like it, but agree that it’s definitely lacking compared to the original series. My BF also agreed that episode 4 wasn’t handled as well in the newer series.
Ep. 4
Personally I’m liking the new series.
I’m very glad Shou Tucker got killed by Scar. I hate his character.
YESSSSSSSSS. Tonight’s episode was actually really enjoyable. Any time Major Armstrong shows up it instantly makes the show 5 times better
I enjoyed tonight’s episode as well!
[details=spoiler]Useless in the rain…
Good thing Hawkeye was there to save “Useless”!
Hiding from Slowhand now… Don’t need a whipping for calling someone “Useless” - Oops I Did It Again!
 [/details]
Yes, Wicca, I looked at your spoilers…
Anyway, I was over at “that other site’s” forums and I came across something interesting.
One guy was talking about having his captions on and he said:
(There are no spoilers here, there are all before last night’s episode)
[quote]They are HILARIOUS. Seriously, turn the captions on.
“Fightin’ strings music”. “Epic morphing noise”. “Bad guy laugh”. “Napoleonic yelling”. That’s just a sample of the hammy hilarity of a captioner who is clearly having a ton of fun working on this.
I want this guy captioning every single episode of this series. And given a raise.[/quote]
Another person said:

So, I guess I must find my closed-captioning area and turn it on for an episode or two.
Read this in time to catch most of the second airing tonight.
[details=spoiler]lonely piano, daunting strings, upbeat Japanese rock
hard rain, more rain, still raining
bell ringing: dooonnng, dooonnng, dooonnng
gun: bang, bang, ba, bang ba, bang, bang, bang
musical electricity, magical electricity, electric magic, magic and electricity
power punch: BOOM![/details]
Really liked this one but Hawkeye is my favorite and she got some good scenes.
Well that sucked.
The exchange between Hugh’s and Mustang after the fight was kind of funny though.
You’re just wrong PP. No other way to put it. You are wrong.
I dont know, I like the new ones a bit better, mostly because of the art, and last nights ep was pretty cool, infact I like these ones better.

Pfft I’m so right my grand-kids are feeling it.
Pretty good episode, the fights were pretty cool. The rushed nature of the series so far creates pretty weak character development though. If I hadn’t seen the original series, I’d be wondering who these characters really are. It’s a bit hard to get a sense of that in this series’ isolation.
The dub is getting better as it seems like the VAs are getting down into their roles. During the episode, when Maxey shouts though, her tone keeps changing. She usually is able to hold a voice very close to Aaron’s until the shouting parts when her voice starts to show its feminine side.
Next week might be an episode to look forward to.
The main thing about the new Alphonse that’s really bugging me is, they gave her voice way too much armor ring.
It gets highly annoying after awhile hearing that ring everytime she talks.
Heh, I wondered if I was the only one to think about that. Especially in the last episode, I thought it was pretty excessive or at least felt when I was hearing it A LOT.
I was thinking I need to pop in my FMA Movie DVD later this week when the last weekend’s ep of FMA shows up on AS Online to compare that aspect side-by-side.
They are probably doing it to make it harder to tell she is not the old VA. I am noticing it more with more emotional scenes then calm scenes. Sounds like they are using the common vocal effect on it. Probably needs to be tweaked more so there is not as much ring.
Jeeze, last week I missed this because … well, I was indisposed, this week the time change bit me. Hopefully I’ll catch the next one - I suppose eventually it will turn up on AS VOD, too.
Voice acting is better ,but the show is still much full of suck yes.
Will have to disagree with you as I enjoyed the episode.
Ep. 6
I think they still got across the point that the Elric’s and Rockbell’s see each other as family and how important that is to them. I enjoyed Winry going full gearhead and still forgetting that screw. Also Armstrong was his usual self.
I enjoyed it as well and I agree with you ShawnMerrow.
[details=spoiler]The family point was well made. And with poor Winry working straight for three days and three nights, it’s great that all she forgot was one screw! But if I remember correctly, isn’t that an important screw?
But I think I really enjoyed Armstrong in this episode. I think the best was when he tried to hug Ed and Ed tells him - “don’t rub your chest on me” - hysterical! However, it’s nice to see how he is coming to care for the boys as he learns more about them.[/details]

Bad shows beware of PP this week.
Going to watch it tonight or tomorrow on DVR.
