Greetings from Funkytown!

#1

Hi, I’m shadycat. I hail from Fort Worth, Texas aka funkytown or cowtown for those who live here. I like to lurk, but I’m trying to get the hang of this posting thing. I am, what I like to describe as, “technologically challenged” so be patient with me. I’m the only person I know who refuses to join facebook.

Other odd bits and pieces: I like classic movies from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s, blues and jazz music, and I have a very old cat who I take for weekly dialysis.

The first anime I can remember seeing were probably Vampire Hunter D and Fist of the North Star. The last anime DVDs I bought were the Lupin III Movie Packs - First and Second Haul. My favs are usually in the action genre, but I’ll watch almost anything once.

Yes, another member of the anti-Facebook group! Welcome to TAN. Please enjoy your stay, and remember the first drink is complementary.

Very sad about your cat. My one is getting up in the years there herself, but we’ve been lucky to have few health problems so far. knock on wood

Good taste! And good luck with your cat. How old is it? I’ve got a cat that’s about 16 now, and he’s still fit as ever. Spends most of his time outdoors.

Welcome to TAN!

Welcome! Have a great time!

Greetings.

I too, have not done anything with facebook. I can quickly figure it out, but I just have, concerns, about putting to much personal data out to the public.

I mean, people might find out I am a closet megalomaniac with a hidden army of genetically enhanced pumpkins ready too… oh, just forget this last part.

Good to see another person from Texas, I’ve been to Fort Worth before. It’s a really long drive from my part of the state, not to mention the elevation is higher.

Welcome to TAN

Welcome to you!
I’m not a computer wiz either, so don’t feel bad. I’m another who won’t join facebook or any of those other sites. TAN is all I need! I also enjoy classic movies and musicals. Sorry, to hear about your cat too. Hope all goes well.
Anyway, please enjoy yourself. It’s a fun place!

Nice to greet ya, open arms and such.

Welcome, Shadycat!

Wow, the Texans are really taking over! This is a good thing! We will prevail!

I myself was a lurker before I joined, almost a month, so I understand exactly what you’re going through. My hubby is the computer whiz in the family, so I never really had to learn anything, but I have picked up a couple of things since coming here.

Classic movies?? Oh, man! You are speaking my language! Before I was a moderator here, I was a moderator of a Classic Movie/Classic TV forum. Speak to me! And I also have an interest in the blues.

Cats… I have 11, 2 inside/9 outside. Are we related in some way? :stuck_out_tongue:

Please keep coming back and visiting all the forums… feel free to jump into any conversation that interests you and contribute!

More people from PA need to join!!! Can’t have 1 in 3 people on the forums being from Texas… :stuck_out_tongue: Slowhand are you like doing AN missionary work and converting all of Texas to the forums???

#12

I have no idea what you’re talking about… :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you ever thought about moving to Texas, Foamy?

#13

I hear Texas houses tumbleweed and cacti. Are there cowboys?

I have seen cowboys and cacti, but no tumbleweeds. Most predominate here are college students.

Haha I don’t know. I would consider moving anywhere lol. I have been to Texas a few times though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Definitely warmer here then in Pennsylvania! It’s a mild 70 degrees right now.

I’m from Pa Foamy. I think I may have asked you this way back when, but what part of Pa are you from?
Slick

#18

I’m probably the only representative of my state here. lol…

#19

Which state is that? Besides the state of unconventional thinking…

Ouch, that smarts. And I currently live in uh, uh, don’t you worry about that.
