It has been announced that the TV anime Hamatora is becoming a stage play. Hamatora is a popular work that broadcast earlier this year from January to March, and a new series will begin in July. Beginning with the manga, which is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump, the series is picking up attention across many forms of media. Twelve performances of the play will be held at the Haiyuza Theater in Roppongi from August 16-24.

General auditions will also be held. Applications are being accepted for males 18-30 years old and females 15-19. Anyone within the age ranges can apply, regardless of if they are connected to the production. Those who want to apply must send the necessary documents by May 24. Those who pass the document inspection will be sent further details at the end of May.

The contents of the stage play are still unknown, but what is known is that Eigeki is creating it. The company has a long track record of successful live-action versions of many works including Super Musical Saint Seiya, Stage Play - Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, and Lucky Star - On Stage. How will the anime world be adapted to the stage? Fans’ anticipation will likely continue to rise.

The TV anime Hamatora is new-type battle drama set in 2014 Yokohama in which a detective duo named Hamatora sets out to resolve an incident involving humans with special powers called Minimum. The second season of the anime, titled Re:_Hamatora, will begin in July and is being directed by Seiji Kishi, chief director of the first season.

Popular voice actors Ryōta Ōsaka and Wataru Hatano are continuing with their roles as Nice and Murasaki, respectively. The animation studio has changed to Lerche, the same studio in charge of Danganronpa: The Animation.

The website is also listing the play’s story:
2014, Yokohama.
Troubleshooter of Hamatora Nice gets a call on his cell phone at Cafe Nowhere: “A murder by gun will happen in Yokohama. I want to borrow your group’s help.” A mysterious request from the police superintendent Art. At the same time, many other strange things begin to occur, including a disgusting delivery through the mail, the appearance of a strange adult, disappearing money, a test of strength, a stomach that won’t stop growling, and a dashing Murasaki.
When the pieces that were scattered come together, the team will arrive at one man. The curtain opens on the real-time non-stop mystery/action story where the keyword is “two more hours!”
As Minimum Holders themselves, Nice and Murasaki are drawn into this case, whether they like it or not.
