Well the show was in the “so bad it’s good” range. It was weak sauce as both a harem and an Isekai. So take that as you will.

I saw the review and commented over on ANN that this looked like a series that you would expect a sub-only barebone release. However, Funimation dubbed it and I suspect they are putting out the LE to try and recoup their costs.

Kind of like a odd glowing light in a long abandoned building . The bad reviews make me want to check out more then run screaming into the night .

Same here. The review implied that Funi took liberties with the dub, which could give it some bonus points.
I’m reminded of the old rule of thumb for action films: if the (mainstream) reviewers hated it, it’s worth seeing.
…also I’ve seen Isekai Smartphone heavily meme’d, so there’s that. Plus, if it enters into “so bad it’s good” then it could help fill the void left by KonoSuba being “MIA”.

You know… I never saw the first season of this one…
Just to give you a hint, the only reason this show got a S2 was due to international streaming and BD sales.
(It’s OK, but I can’t recommend it, because it’s in the so bad it’s good territory)

Just watched the first episode of season 1, dubbed.
Spoilers!
I must say, Touya is very on the unbuttered roll side of character personality…
However, the dub rewrites are great for a good mindless laugh:
God in sub, abridged: “I dropped some lightning and didn’t think there’d be anyone where it fell.”
God in dub, abridged: “It’s been a couple weeks since I last accidentally killed someone with lightning.”
I just hope the second season dub keeps this style humor…
