K / Return of Kings / Missing Kings

Hmmm, looks like I had a fail with RightStuf’s search. Only the LE of this is listed as a combopak now. I should have known with the price being ~20 dollars lower.

There’s a scene in Needress where the “good guys” suddenly huddle up in the middle of their fight in the “training chamber” and the villains are show standing around, wondering if they should attack while they’re huddled up. I was reminded of that when I watched ep 1 of this.

Like Campione, I’m getting the feeling that this is going to be a “better Fate/Stay Night than Fate/Stay Night”. I’m not sure about the dub, it has that “California sound” to it. Eons ago I heard a That Anime Show podcast where Monica Rial mentions how she and a former ADV engineer (Grundy?) “secretly” used the “ADV Way” to dub @ Funimation as their method wasn’t cutting it. I wish that the TX actors in these CA dubs could bring the Funi/Sentai magic to them.

K Missing Kings assembles characters again on July 12 in Japanese theaters

My copy of this arrived today. I wondered how RightStuf would package the decals that come with the LE. I have now learned that they just lay them alongside the LE (outside the shrinkwrap) and just bundle it up in their signature crinkly brown paper. I think that this is what they did for Nadesico and Lain but those were a while ago.

…there’s a photograph of a half-shirtless Asian dude in this artbook. I guess that “balances out” some of the more fanservicey drawings of female characters also in the book? This artbook is, despite its small size, fairly HQ. I expected something closer to Funimation’s War on Geminar artbook and this exceeds that by leaps and bounds. It even has episode synopses and song lyrics.

Finally got around to seeing some of this. The best scenes have involved the robots, most notably the Jonny 5 “Nice Software, Ste-phan-ie!”-esque moment in ep 1.

This dub kinda answers the question of “What will Studiopolis do when it has two roles for Carrie Savage but only one Carrie Savage to use?”

…also, having seen this and some of Karneval I have to say that, thus far, this goes further in a certain direction than does Karneval.
