I own it. Other than the LP size of the set it is a decent release. Though Crunchyroll did not bother to get shipping boxes the right size and a most boxes are coming damaged in some way. It’s also the only way to get the movie and OVA versions together. It sounds like Anime Limited either can’t or don’t plan on releasing it any other way for the foreseeable future. I’m not sure it sold to well at the price and being stuck with the massive set. I’d personally wait for a better sale price on it as it’s been a bit lower than it is now before or a coupon.
Damn can we get the first series on Bluray?
So, I have to wonder whether, Nozomi basically sold the license to All The Anime, or did the sale of Right Stuf to Crunchyroll cause the license to revert back to Big West, and they licensed it to ATA
Harmony Gold says they have to make a live action Robotech movie that will bomb with Sony first. Can’t distract from the long dead brand.
I understand the limited appeal of Robotech. But at this point people want the original series more than an 80s hack job.
To be fair the Macross part of Robotech is not really hacked up much thanks to Carl Macek. Southern Cross and MOSPEADA were to make them fit with Macross.
Harmony Gold is the biggest issue. While it’s great Big West was able to get things the way they are so we can have most of the stuff. Harmony Gold having all the power over the original and even the designs not so great. We are talking about the company that sued Hasbro because they released a convention exclusive Skystriker of Jetfire. Jetfire’s original G1 toy was actually the VF-1 Valkyrie toy.
So until they get their Movie I don’t see the original series or Do You Remember Love getting a North American release or anyplace Harmony Gold holds the rights in. Which may be near everyplace except Japan depending on the deal they made with Big West. Been a bit since I read over the deal so could be wrong.
