Oreimo / Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai

Finished up ep. 08

On the whole, another good episode, but I would have liked a little bit of backstory…

spoiler

…and what led up to Kirino’s book getting so popular.
It was actually rather a nice touch when Kyosuke and the other two went to stand up to the anime commity.
Seems he likes his little sis after all.

I like the conversation on the train home.

spoiler

Kuroneko: Why do you subject yourself to such cruelty just to care for your little sister?
Kyosuke: I don’t really know, myself.
Her: Sis-Con? (Sister Complex)
Him: That alone is definitely wrong!
Her: Masochist?
Him: That’s wrong too!
Her: Then why?
Him: Isn’t it because we’re siblings?
Her: Oh… I see… I’m envious

I think her book got popular only because of the marketing strategy they used. Fate says “I guess saying “A mysterious female middle-school author” worked.” - just before she tells Kirino that another printing was ordered. And the wall was plastered with posters that said the same thing. I guess it’s good to have the right people promoting your work!

And I liked how Kyosuke stuck up for his little sister as well, but kept it a secret, letting her think that she convinced them all on her own.

The longer I watch the show,

the less I’m liking the sister.
And yet, I’m liking the show more because of everyone else on it - especially the interaction between the brother and the two other female characters - goth girl and lumberjack; yeah, their names escape right now.
And we’re slowly seeing that there is more to goth girl and lumberjack than just their outer otaku appearances.

Finished up ep. 09

Another really good episode with some good character developement.

spoiler

We get a look into the normal lives of the three friends: Kirino, Ruri (Kuroneko), and Saori.

Kirino: we see how obssessed she really is with eroge.

Ruri: we find out, is actually rather sweet to her little sister.

Saori: we find out she’s actually rather hot under all that frumpishness she usually wears around the others, and she’s also from a wealthy household.

I agree with you Coffee God. I enjoyed getting more character insight.

Episode 9 –

spoiler

Well, Saori just completely surprised me. There seems to be a lot more to her than meets the eye! Kuroneko seems slightly more normal at home when she takes care of her little sister and lets her watch Meruru.

Funny how Kirino is just like the little sister in the game. I wonder if she recognized herself. And I had to feel sorry for Kyosuke listening to her play. She really is obsessed. But it was funny too. I think they could use thicker walls!

I know I’m late to the party but I just saw episode 1 yesterday at an anime club meeting. I will catch up on it. I have to agree with everyone here-it is an engaging series.

4 more episodes on 7th, 8th BD/DVD volumes next June/July

Sounds more like a 16-episode production, with the last 5 being 12A, 12B, 13, 14, 15.

As reported on Sankakucomplex:

Interviewer: The announcement of the series’ 15-episode run was made at yesterday’s “Ore no Imouto Festival”, but could you summarize it for us again?

To put it simply, there will be two versions of episode 12.

During episode 12, there will be a divergence (in the story’s route).

One of those versions will be the “Good End” that will be the TV run’s final episode.

Then, there will be another episode 12 that will continue until episode 15 and will be a new final episode.

What was the reason for choosing such a way to end the series?

Originally, it started with the desire to have people who watched the full 1-cour (standard 3-month ‘season’) TV series until the very end to think “That was a really good final episode!”

Then, the plans for the TV ending began to take on the shape of an eroge-like route system (wherein the player has access to many multiple endings.)

This (eroge-like split ending) idea actually fits in very well with the spirit of the original work, and so we hope that viewers can feel that this is very much “Ore no Imouto~”.

Regarding the distribution schedule of the new episodes 12-15, has the time and release date been set?

The specifics are entirely undecided.

Ore no Imouto Producer: The Anime Has Multiple Endings

Finished up ep. 10

I loved this episode!
So many funny parts, not to mention…

SPOILER

Kanako was wicked cute cosplaying as Meruru.

It was a fun episode. I enjoyed the end credits as well on this one.

spoiler

And the fact that Kanako had thrown the highly prized one of a kind figurine in the trash, once she won it! But even her brattiness was cute too. And she did admit it was fun in the end.

Did you notice the ferocious battle between Kirino and
Kuroneko in the OP?

Finished up ep. 11

Another awesome episode!

Man, there’s just some many great lines and comedic moments in this series!
I haven’t laughed so hard in quite some time.

I loved when Kuroneko asked Saori if Kyosuke was broken now, since he was laughing.

I did see that. The OP is great.

Episode 11 was really funny.

spoiler

The “harem” party was especially funny. Do you cheer someone up or embarrass them to death?

So, that was the “good ending”?

spoiler

It was really cute. Just when Kyosuke thought Kirino’s behavior was strange for one reason, it turned out to be a completely different reason. I’m glad Kirino didn’t go to America and I think Kyosuke was too. I think he enjoys having his little sister around - it definately makes life more interesting!

But it also looked like Kirino wanted one of her games to come to life when she was expecting her brother to stop her. And unlike a game, he didn’t, and that made her angry. She still made the right decision in the end, but I wonder if it was because she didn’t want to leave her brother after all.

However, my favorite scene had to be when Kyosuke found his friend, Akagi on the midnight line with him, but for the “macho” game. It turns out he was there for his sister as well. That whole thing was hysterical!

Overall, in the end, I thought it was a fun and enjoyable show. Enjoyable enought that when/if it comes out on DVD, I’d consider buying it - maybe from NISA.

Still, personally I think the best interactions in the show where with the brother and the rest of the cast. I especially liked the

emerging, potential three-way romance between the brother, his childhood friend, and goth-girl.

Finished up ep. 12, finishing up the series (until the other 4 eps. are released)

I have to say, I’m really glad they stuck to the non-incestuous route with this.
It turned out rather well, and it was amazingly funny at times.
Definitely well worth the 5/5 rating from me, unless of course bitch Kirino bugs the hell out of you.

All in all though, an awesome series!

With Aniplex holding the R2 license and the price tag on the KnK movies though, I really hope Aniplex isn’t the one who licenses this in R1 land, I’d never be able to justify buying it should it come over here.

Sure, they may have stuck with the non-incestous route for tv, but the next 4 webcast eps. can go either way. And I most likely do see them going for a more naughteir route, if not with Kyosuke and Kirino, then him and one of the other girls in the show, if not all of them.

That is the episode title, but really it is more like the “normal ending”.

The protagonist does not direct too much attention to any one girl, does not “win” any, and ends up with the Techi Solution (type 1; Status Quo Is God).

The OVAs look to provide eroge endings; a Bad End and/or a Good End.

Looks like Oriemo is doing well in sales.
Hopefully someone picks this up.
