Oreimo / Ore no Imōto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai

Yeah, yeah, yeah… we get it… you’re not buying it.
You already said you weren’t buying it anyways on the previous page because it didn’t have a dub.

It’s an LE release, and it’s ment for those of us that really want it.
They aren’t catering it to people like you.

I find it odd that other animes I bought like “Highschool of the Dead Blu-ray Complete Collection (Hyb)”, “Angel Beats! Blu-ray Complete Collection (Hyb)”, & “Demon King Daimao Blu-ray Complete Collection (Hyb)” the MSRP: is $69.98, and the MSRP for “Oreimo DVD Complete Box (S) Limited Edition” is $74.99.

Sub only animes I own are:

Koihime Muso
Shin Koihime Muso
Shin Koihime Muso: Otome Tairan
Kampfer
Samurai Harem
To Love Ru
Indian Summer
Clannad & Clannad After story I still own them with sub-only and own the dub collections, soon I will also own the blu-ray collections also.

Different expectations from different companies. I wouldn’t expect complete season collections to use the same price-point between Aniplex USA and S23/Sentai.

Your’re not just paying for the show only, your’re also paying for the swag that comes with it: that’s why it’s a Limited Edition. That’s how all LE’s are: they’re usually a bit more than regular editons.

Maybe they’ll release a regular edition down the line with a lower price, sorta like NISA’s Limited and Regular editions of Toradora and Wagnaria.

If Oreimo and Toradora had at least a blu-ray release I would overlook the sub-only. Toradora regular edition still kinda costs alot for not being blu-ray.

It’s $44.99 retail for the regular edition which is actually $5.00 cheaper then what Sentai’s 12 to 13 episode sets retail price. Plus you get a story guide leaflet. Which is something most companies don’t do anymore. Considering how much the Blu-ray license can cost for anime , then add in the production/replication cost for Blu-ray , and how many hoops the Japanese can sometimes make the companies here jump through I’m not surprised we don’t see more Sub only Blu-ray. With what I got in the premium Toradora set I’m fine with the price I was charged. Aniplex USA’s pricing has been like very odd. For one thing they charge a arm and a leg then another they charge way less then anyone expected. I’m very curious to see what body parts I’ll have to give for Madoka Magica.

Toradora regular set 1 is in the weekly specials for $26.99 the same price as a sub only Sentai set would cost during a sale.

Usually stuff does not get licensed by Funimation and Sentai because the Japanese side wanted to much for them to take the risk. With stuff from Aniplex USA it seems like it’s been shopped around, but it did not have any bites from this side for the price that was wanted so it was decided to bring it here themselves.

For me as long as the release is well done , meets what I expect now a days , some thing I think is worth getting for the price they want , and some thing I want in the first place I’ll most of the time buy at some point. Oreimo I think this is the best we are going to see and unless Blu-ray production cost goes down to what DVD’s cost to make I don’t see a whole lot of sub only anime Blu-rays happening. I’d also worried once it does go down that means they cut something out of the process which could lead to a lot of problems with player incompatibility and a shoddy product. Blu-ray Players may be getting cheaper, but from everything that has been said the production cost of the disc themselves is still to high for Anime companies to just put everything on and still ask a price they feel a product can sell for in the current market.

I’ve got mine on Pre-Order from the RightStuf folks.

As far as the cost is concerned, I look at it this way:

I remember watching Gigantor on broadcast TV, in Black & White, in the late 1960’s.

So getting Oreimo, or anything else, on Blueray or DVD at a price that I can afford to pay is a relative miracle.

I’m happy with today’s miracle.

Your right that Toradora half season collections are cheaper then most Sentai’s Half season collections. I was only looking at Clannad, & To Love Ru’s half seasons for 39.98 each since those are the only two half season animes I own from Sentai.

I am very poor this month or I might buy Toradora since it is on sale but so far this month I had to cancel my spice & Wolf blu-ray orders and let my Crunchyroll, & Animenewsnetwork.com memberships expire.

AniplexUS put up a new pic of the packaging for the set.

That is a pretty nice looking release. I think it’s worth the $59.99 pre-order price. Though I wonder if the box is paperboard or chipboard.

Yeah, it definitely looks well worth the admission price.
I would have gotten it even if it was just a minimal release, but with everything that’s included it this, it kind of seems like $59.99 is a ‘steal’ price.

Though, the box quality will truely be the determining factor whether it’s actually a steal or not.

Of course, I’m hoping for the chipboard box.

Like I said on the other place wish I could get a full sheet to frame and put up on my wall as I think it would make a great piece.

Forgot to post this when it went up, but they started adding episodes to CR now.

Two more official trailers have been put up.

.

They have also started adding it to Crackle. First two episodes have actually showed up on my Blu-ray players Crackle app.

Does contain spoilers for those that did not watch it while it was streaming.

Sad about the box, but it’s nice about the cards.

I was really hoping for a chipboard.
