Sentai Filmworks Licenses Parasyte -The Maxim- Anime

License covers N. American, S, American, UK, Australian, New Zealand rights
This right here almost 99% guarantees a dub for this show.
Good for Sentai. Nice to see them getting another big title.
Maybe a solid dub will make this series more accessible to me as I just couldn’t get into it in Japanese.
Parasyte -the maxim- episodes 1 - 12 are now available to watch for free on hulu!

As a note, this was put up by Sentai directly, and thus far, is the only thing they ever put up on Hulu themselves.
Given where the license covers and that there are likely other distributors working with them, I would expect that Sentai will have sufficient funds to do a good dub for this series. It has the potential to make some money for Sentai and their partners.

Con leche, por favor.
I’ve noticed that some releases will have Spanish subs for our Hispanic brethren, but may or may not have a Spanish dub.
Always a mystery how these deals get put together.

If they do get a Spanish dub made, IMO they should put it on the NA release. I’d watch it.
Glad someone got it,.
Concerning the dub, if Sentai wants to give this series a solid dub (which will help this series sell well. Having it air on Toonami will also help), they’re probably gonna have to reach out to other studios (preferably Ocean Studios in Vancouver since it’s actually cheaper than LA, the only other place that they reached out to for dubs, thanks to the USD/CAD ratio. If Sentai can outsourse to LA without too much trouble then they could do the same with Vancouver) since Seraphim Digital just isn’t cut out to produce a high-quality dub given their track record since last year and still continuing.
Dunno about that for Parasyte as Sentai needs a stellar dub on this and outsourcing doesn’t guarantee a stellar dub: Vancouver is mercurial (and untested with Sentai) and CA is only likely to yield the same results as an average Sentai dub.
IMO they need a proven ace director, one who has evoked great performances from noobs and veteran actors alike, and should call in Greenfield, Sentai’s semi-retired ace director, and treat it like “Gantz 2.0”.
I agree that the dub of Parasyte does present a problem as the majority of the best Sentai-era dubs were done by Foster and he’s been cashiered and male leads have been something of a stumbling block for Sentai dubs in general.
I’m thinking more and more maybe part of the reason they, Toonami and Sentai, can’t come to a deal (not the only reason, of course) has to do with finding a time slot both parties can agree with. Toonami shows go down in ratings during the block’s Saturday run, and why have a new/newish show running during the last part of the block. May be part of the reason why One Piece is getting a Saturday primetime encore.
Give it to Chris Ayers, since I’ve always enjoyed the “serious” shows he’s worked on more so than the comedy/lighter tone ones in general.
I can’t seem to figure out how to edit a post. I keep getting a weird error, but I did want to add.
I would love to see Matt Greenfield direct again, and I think he would be great for Parasyte. However, considering he didn’t even return for IS 2, I think the chances are slim to none unfortunately.

Will there be a for collector’s limited edition for Parasyte? And is Love Lab really the answer for life? Ajak
Parasyte would really be one of those shows that would necessitate a box set, wouldn’t it?
Also, yes. Always.
Ok, folks, I’m moving all this discussion about Sentai dubs to the other thread. Take all the dub discussion over there.
This is the Parasyte thread. Discussion for that only here.
I will delete any more discussion about anything other than Parasyte.
