Princess Nine / Kisaragijoshikou Yakyuubu

I’m getting there!
On track 5 of the second soundtrack, currently.

So far, my favorite is on soundtrack 1, Track 10 - A Princess’ Elegant Intensity

Yeah that’s a great one. That’s one of the 4 Schubert arrangements (disc1: 5,10; disc2: 6,10). Too many great themes, I love the main theme, tracks 5,6,10,12,17,20,21 of the first Soundtrack.

Yeah, I noticed it was one of the Schubert arrangements.
Doesn’t make me love it any less though.
This soundtrack is just really great all around, plenty of tracks/part of tracks to love.

Ha!
Speaking of which, I don’t think I mentioned this, but I remember thinking it at the time while watching the series, though it’s more noticable now that I have the soundtracks and can pin point which parts I’m referring to.

Vol. 2, Track 18 (The Flaming Magic Ball, The Lightning Ball!) min 1:05 - 2:00.

I’d sware that part was at least partially inspired by the Harry Gregson-Williams, Nick Glennie-Smith, and Hans Zimmer - **The Rock **soundtrack.
Track 6 (Rocket Away) min 9:10 - 10:32.

Both parts I really love though, so it’s all good.
I just found it interesting that the general pace and feel of both of those parts are rather similar.

Did you think of The Rock immediately when we were watching it or did it take a while for you to pin point? Yeah there is some faint inspiration there, which is so prevalent now with orchestral, and movie scores since a lot of them study, listen and borrow ideas from the classical masters.

Yeah, it was real obvious to me right off the bat, since The Rock is one of my absolute favorite soundtracks and gets frequent play throughout any given year.

It’s certialy not an out right rip-off, but at the time of watching the series, I was saying to myself: “Ha! That sounds almost like it came from The Rock!”

Though, now that I have the PN soundtracks and actually compared those tracks, it’s just the general pace and feel of them that make me think they’re similar, but like I said (as you did) I do think the PN track was at least partially inspired by that The Rock track.

-edit-

Unintentional pun on this.

And I’m trying to remember why I didn’t add those soundtracks to my recent order??? Oh well, I guess I will save them for my monthy bargain bin order.

Right Stuf Adds Princess Nine Anime

All series to get DVD release

I would buy this in a heartbeat on bluray, but since I already have the ADV discs, I will be skipping it. They look amazing upscaled, so I doubt the Lucky Penny release will be much of an improvement.

I seem to recall Greenfield and voice actors lauding this show but I never did see it. Maybe I’ll have to pick it up.

Hopefully RightStuf won’t mangle this ADV rescue too badly. Maye they’ll-fingers crossed-have the courtesy to even leave the English audio as the default language this time around. Their releases of Gasaraki and Nadesico… :frowning:

Right Stuf always sets the Japanese audio as their default. It is the original language after all. Other than anime releases, it’s more common for the original audio track to be the default. I wouldn’t expect them to change that for Princess Nine. It’s not like you can’t change it on the fly.
