FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SENTAI FILMWORKS LICENSES “PSYCHIC SQUAD”

HOUSTON, January 30, 2012— Sentai Filmworks is glad to announce its license of PSYCHIC SQUAD (Zettai Karen Children) where, once upon a time, there were three little girls – who were all considered national security risks and a danger to the human race! The 52 episode series is based on a manga by Takashi Shiina (Ghost Sweeper Mikami) with direction by Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Hayate the Combat Butler, Nyan Koi!) and music by Kotaro Nakagawa (Code Geass, Inu x Boku S.S.).

They’re cute, adorable and three of the most powerful Espers the world has ever seen: Kaoru, the brash psychokinetic who can move objects with her mind; Shiho, the sarcastic and dark natured psychometric able to pick thoughts from people’s minds and read the pasts of inanimate objects like a book; and Aoi, the most collected and rational of the three, who has the ability to teleport herself and the others at will. So what to do with these potential psychic monsters in the making? Enter B.A.B.E.L., the Base of Backing ESP Laboratory, where hopefully “The Children” and others like them can become part of the answer to an increasing wave of psychic evolution. It’s a win-win solution… Unless you’re Koichi Minamoto, the overworked young man stuck with the unenviable task of field commanding a team of three pre-teen girls! Will Koichi survive the experience? Will the PLANET survive the experience? Find out as the girls get meta-physical in PSYCHIC SQUAD!

PSYCHIC SQUAD will soon be available digitally through multiple outlets, with a home video release on subtitled DVD scheduled for later this year.

New project part of 7 new projects to commemorate 7th anniversary of Takashi Shiina’s manga

I guessing it might be a feature-length movie, ala Ghost Sweeper Mikami.

Hysterical!! When going after Muscle Ohkama, these little girls manage to destroy Akikhabara and still let the bad guy get away. The Chief doesn’t reprimand them either and instead spoils them rotten so that they’ll like him. I don’t like Supervisor Suma and the chokers she has on the girls, calling them “animals” as well.

Minamoto seems to work better with the girls and I was happy when he was made their handler. He even got them new, prettier limiters. And I have a feeling he won’t spoil them either. I think they will be treated like normal little girls – well as much as possible with their abilities.

But the best was in the museum when Muscle Ohkama caught Kaoru’s “Golden Attack” right in his “Super Magnum”!! Had me rolling!! I think this will be a very funny show and I look forward to lots of laughter!

When I was looking at the DVDs, I noticed something really odd. The website only has the first 13 episodes listed, but for the picture they’re using, it’s from the cover that has episodes 14-26.

There are THREE DVD sets out now, covering the first 39 episodes. Volume 4 is due out in November.

The third DVD comes out September 4th actually.

My point was the fact that is seems only the first 13 episodes appear to be an option for streaming for Anime Network, but they’re using the cover art for a DVD with episodes that they may not get access to.

This show is quite funny, it’s sort of a guilty pleasure to watch, but I’d buy it if it was reasonably priced.

Dude, I already have THREE DVD sets of this series. That’s SIX DISCS. I am waiting on the FOURTH set of DVDs, which will have the remaining episodes. They’re not due until November.

Where did you get the third DVD set? RightStuf has it as a pre-order.

Kaoru is a riot. I wonder if she does birthdays. :side:

Collection 3 started shipping on 8/14 from TRSI.
That’s the nice thing about pre-ordering from TRSI, they usually receive & ship stuff early, generally 2-3 weeks, depending on what it is and who it’s from.
Sentai’s stuff pretty much always ships relatively early.

I have my sources, but I DO have it. Episodes 27-39.

I thought it was a little wierd in ep. 6 when they change for phys ed in the classroom; I know that’s normal for younger kids in Japanese schools, but by that age do they have them split up by sex and one changes then the other or something?

So, when are we going to get the rest of the series? This has become a favorite of both my wife and mine.

Could be as soon as the end of this month.
