RightStuf, Inc. News

I’m all for RS making my credit card information safer. I’m just not a fan of this new website design of theirs, it seems very similar to what they had, only downgraded. Several of its new features are either inconveniences or were already present before the upgrade (eg:ajax-powered search-as-you-type, narrowing search results).

Except for the multiple product views and on-mouseover zoom (can Amazon sue for ripping their site off?) I’m not seeing any improvement. At least their UI didn’t go all square tiles, imitating Microsoft’s Metro (windows 8/10) style like other recently-redesigned sites have.

Most puzzling is their domain name change. Dropping all the years of brand awareness as “rightstuf” and switching to “rightstufanime” would be like Google switching to “Googlesearchengine”. o_0

Wow. IIRC, not even ANN’s aniplex prizepacks included actual Aniplex discs. Those just included knickknacks like shirts and mini-figures. RightStuf (or aniplex) is taking it to the next level.

Aniplex Prize Packs @ ANN
 1. Sword Art Online prize pack (3-pc. Chibi Kyun-Chara figures [Asuna, Kirito, Yui], 170cm Asuna multi-cloth, 1 pack Bushiroad sleeve collection, Toy’sworks Collection 2.5 can badge box)

 2. Silver Spoon prize pack (holstein t-shirt, Butadon t-shirt, Oezo Agricultural High School gloves)

 3. Magi - The Labyrinth of Magic prize pack (2 packs Crusade cards, 2 metal charms, 2 ticket holders (orig. sold at Magi Festival), 2 keychains, illustration card)

I’d like to think that Aniplex is realizing that they need to actually participate in the North American market.

Guess they figured out being on Toonami won’t get you the sales you want when your stuff still costs an ‘arm and a leg’ for the casual anime viewer.

Please Teacher (D) - teaser clip 2

It also seems that they’re learning that making more copies of their product, once their extremely limited initial runs sell out, leads to more sales (DRRR!! blurays). Price is still an issue.

On that, if the review is accurate on RightStuf (visible ratings/reviews is an improvement over the old site), Aniplex did not update its blurays for DRRR as they still have the same flaw of no subs for the just the on-screen Japanese text :frowning:

Email from Shawne Kleckner of RightStuf
Hello from Right Stuf!

Last weekend, when we started working on getting our partial shipping back up and running, an error occurred and although we did ship out your partial order, we also unfortunately billed you for the entire remainder of your order as well. Obviously this is bad, and not the way we do things around here. I wanted to get the items you’ve been waiting for on their way to you, not take your money for items we haven’t shipped yet.

Our staff diligently worked through every order that was affected and refunded back to your card the unshipped amount of the orders.

Because of the way this panned out, we’ve created a new order for the items that remained on backorder after your shipment. So, when you log into your account and see a new order, this is the reason why. It will not affect you in any other way or cause you to lose any allocation for the items, as our new system doesn’t have that issue any more. You won’t be double shipped. We’ll take care of everything. As we should, since it was our mistake.

Our focus has always been our customers and providing second-to-none service. Moving to a new platform has its hiccups, and we replaced virtually every system in the building as part of our changeover. As humans, we do make mistakes, and errors do happen. We definitely fell down here in terms of our mistake that had an affect on you, our loyal customer. I wanted to be proactive and let you know what had happened, and apologize personally for the problem. If you don’t see your credit or see a problem, please open a case in your website account, but I believe we handled them all.

I truly thank you for your patience with us, and I hope you’ll forgive this error on our part. Thank you for your business.

Sincerely,
Shawne Kleckner
This morning some old "We’re Working on It” emails were sent out to customers in error. There were ghosts in the machine that were lurking from the old system that were confused and decided to send out messages even though they had long since been left behind. They have been exorcized and banished. We apologize for any inconvenience and confusion this may have caused. You can always check on your order status through your account page when you log in to the site.

Thank you for continuing to support us through this transition!
