I just reread the Brazil & Mexico’s license announcement, Sailor Moon will only get released on dvd. other Toei animes got tv deals in Brazil that I read about at the same time. My bad

Operation Moonrise Phase 6 survey!
This survey came about becouse of the recent news in Brazil about not being able to redub Sailor Moon.
So, this thread has been up for 1 year now. Who actually wants to see Sailor Moon? I’m not a fan, but it was big back in the day. I really think it would tank big time if someone in the US got the rights, but I may be wrong.

I’d not mind seeing it re-licensed as a sub only release maybe throw the old dub in as a extra or something. See the last part was never licensed here so there is some sales in it and the original releases were far from anywhere near good. Cruddy Video and missing episodes thanks to Toei’s gimping. I think it could possibly sell past breaking even if say Rightstuf got it and did what they did with Kimba and Astro Boy. Full sets of what was released here still go for a decent amount more then I paid for my first car back in the late 90’s. Though even with a new TV deal I don’t see it as selling well enough to support a new dub however. If something like One Piece can’t even keep a TV deal I don’t think a series from what like 16 years ago keeping one with out some thing along the lines of DBZ Kai cutting going on and Kai won’t even be doing the whole DBZ series as after the Cell saga its done.
That said I’d rather see Card Captor Sakura or Kimagure Orange Road get another chance. Both have had better masters come out in Japan and love to have new copies to replace my old ones before something happens to them. I liked Sailor Moon it’s just even at the current retail prices of Anime it’s a big investment. If they stick to 13 episode sets it’d still around 1 of them which would be like $770.00 at current pricing for 13 episode sets. Even during a Rightstuf sale it’d be like $425.00. Course that would be spread out ,but there in is another problem it’d take years to get it all out. If they did the 26 episode sets it’d not be to bad at around 8 sets ,but I am not sure that would support the cost of licensing it. Really they’d have to do sets based on 5 series. Then charge a price around what Rightstuf charged for their Ultra Edition Kimba and Astro Boy sets. So no matter what they’d have to ask around $500.00 for the whole series. If it can sell for around that I can see it being worth getting . Since at that price it should break past even for them. I guess what I am saying if people want it be ready to make a big investment on a 16 plus year old series and probably passing on other series you may want.
Two problems with the post above. One is that I think Sailor moon would see sales like mainstreem animes, I don’t buy long mainstreem animes but I would buy this. The other is without a new dub there will be more complaining then if it never got licensed.
Come to think of it, I think I may have asked this question before, so thanks for the response. I didn’t know they never finished it here in the US, so that may attract some old school fans. I also remember the show looking bad on television. When it was on, I didn’t even really know what anime was. Also, this genre of anime isn’t something I’d watch, but I know it’s still popular for a lot of fans.

I asked the Magic 8-ball if it would be licensed here again and it said flat out no. Good news it said yes to Card Captor Sakura.
Hot Topic Lists New Sailor Moon T-Shirt in U.S.
Following the listing of Sailor Moon products from the merchandising company Great Eastern Entertainment, the American retail chain Hot Topic now lists a new Sailor Moon t-shirt (pictured) on its website. The online “HT exclusive” is available in junior sizes from XS to 3X, and the 100% cotton girl’s shirt retails between US$22.50 and US$26.50.
I’ll ask Funi about this at Otakon, they haven’t been asked about it before right? Better than my backup question where I ask who I should kill to stop their recent naming sense.
You can seriously find a better question than that one. Ask about the YYH Movies and OVAs first.

They’ve been asked at every convention about Sailor Moon. It’s the same answer “Love to have it”. So far this has been the only thing said about the YYH OVA amd Movie http://youtu.be/sG7X7sp_22s#t=1m40s. Won’t get a date to probably the last Blu-ray TV set comes out.
It wouldn’t hurt to ask again.
It would just waste a question. If they had acquired it, they wouldn’t casually slip at a panel q and a session. They would make a bigger deal about it. If they were in the process of negotiating for a property that size, they wouldn’t really be able to say anything anyway. It’s just sort of pointless. If they get the show, they will announce it in their own time.
Besides, if u really want your Sailor Moon fix now, then just buy and watch Lingerie Soldier Papillion Rose. You get all the silliness and sexyness of Sailor Moon and only 7 eps. to boot. In and out that’s what I say, no drag out high double-digit episode snoozefest.

I decided I won’t ask about Sailor Moon, but I do think Otakon is likely the last time this year Funi may announce it.
I will ask why the heck they stopped sending DVDs to Netflix instead.
