Title: UTA NO PRINCE SAMA 1000% SEASON 1
Published by: Sentai Filmworks

Run Time: 325 min.
Street Date: 1/7/2014
Format: DVD

SYNOPSIS: When Haruka gets the chance to take the entrance exam for Saotome Academy for the Performing Arts, it seems as though she’s one step closer to her dream of composing songs for her favorite singer, Hayato. However, this is no gleeful high school musical experience, and Haruka’s hiding a dreadful secret that may silence her musical ambitions forever. And even if she does get into Saotome, the competition will be more brutal than going on Japan’s Top Idol! That’s because, as a writer, Haruka could be paired with any one of six radically different male singers. Will it be upbeat Otoya, serious Masato, flirtatious Ren, split-personality Natsuki, optimistic Syo, or the unapproachable Tokiya, who’s rumored to be Hayato’s brother? And just to make things more complicated and awkward, writers and singers are expressly NOT allowed to get romantically involved! Can one girl and six handsome young men learn to make beautiful music together in a strictly platonic sense? They can if the oddball staff of Saotome, most of whom are current and former idols themselves have anything to say about it in Uta no Prince Sama 1000%!

SYNOPSIS: 1925 - six years since the end of the Great War, four years since women were allowed to join political associations and one year since Emperor Hirohito assumed the throne. Japan is a nation re-inventing itself in many ways, not the least of which is the introduction of a strange new type of school uniform called the “sailor suit”. And though the game of baseball may be new to Japan, relatively speaking, at least it remains the exclusive realm of men and boys. But when a local player arrogantly states that girls should become housewives instead of going to school, female teenage firebrands Koume and Akiko respond by forming their own baseball team. It’s shocking. It’s scandalous. And yet, in a nation in which almost anything seems suddenly possible, it may just be the start of something greater than any nine girls can imagine. It’s not just a game, its history in the making in TAISHO BASEBALL GIRLS - COMPLETE COLLECTION!

Another wallet shrinking month.

Medaka Box Abnormal CC

Maybe:
UTA NO PRINCE SAMA 1000% SEASON 1

Not much here for me.

Depending on how the dubs of Maria and Medaka Box turn out I might pick them up.

Alternatively, if anyone (like the Ayres Bros.) involved in the dubs will happen to be at a January/February con then I’ll pick 'em up just to get them signed. Though that reminds me that I’ll likely have to pick up AKB for just that. I wish that Sentai hadn’t decided to put lyrics from that execrable band on their cover of that; if that “band” had intervened I would have approved.

MEDAKA BOX ABNORMAL for me, and that’s it…

Medaka Box Abnormal is being released so soon after the original that, like with the split for Kokoro (kokoro) Connect, I wonder if I should feel slighted that they didn’t wait and conflate 'em into one mega release.

KC was meant to be one TV season, but some stuff happened in Japan, and the show switch to direct to DVD for the last few (and the first one coming out this month, you can fell it when watching, at least in the sub). I find it annoying that we have to buy two volumes as a result of this. But the Japan companies could of had a hand in this…

Medaka Box Abnormal is a season 2 type thing. (I’m hoping for a Season 3, seeing how the second ended. Damn cliffhangers!)

Speaking of close releases, anyone want to take a stab as to when Maria Holic Alive comes out?

I would say, just like most of their previous multi-set releases, in 2 months.
So March, if all goes well and it doesn’t get delayed for one reason or another.

According to Sentai’s Twitter account, they haven’t dubbed Alive yet. So they may be holding out to see how Maria-holic does before they commit to it. It would be unusual for them to dub one and not the other though. It’s always good to see Sentai going back and dubbing more shows, especially when they add bluray to the mix.

I thought the same thing. Very surprising.

I’m thinking that they dubbed both about the same time, and just delayed the release of the first one as a result.

Casshan and Maria Holic when I check Rightstuf this morning now have release dates of March 4th ,2014.

Oh my. They love making things interesting don’t they?

So only 2 dubbed releases, one of which is a rescue dub?

BTW, now that the patlabor TV series has been released, when will we hear about the ovas and whether or not maiden japan is going to pull a funi (since funi expressed no interest in dubbing their undubbed bandai rescues) with them?

Ooohh…maybe this means they decided to give Casshan a new spankin’ English dub, one with the Gatchaman cast, to “keep it in the family”.

KEEP IT…IN THE…FAMILY…(headbang…) :pinch:

What do you mean “pull a Funi” like it’s just them. Other R1’s has released a continuation/sequel of an existing/ed R1 licensed, English dubbed show, sub-only.

I’m not familiar with that song.

On anncast the thankfully-semi-retired funimation PR guys said that funi has no interest in dubbing their sub-only rescues. I’m keeping Funimation’s latest failure fresh in my mind; if they’re not going to release it right, why bother?

Edit: rescuing a half-dubbed release and then releasing it without finishing the dub is lameness that funi has signed its name to. They weren’t contrite about it in the podcast, if anything they were proud of it. Funimation…smh.

Hmm, and one of the shows came up here already… What?

(or both, but I’m not interested in it if so)

?

Casshan and Maria Holic were the ones I’m talking about. You can watch them now here. I’m curious to know what caused the delay.
