###See All the Qs & As at Ask.fm

How long after getting the license of a anime would it take Sentai to have a home video?

A. Anywhere from 12 to 18 months after the simulcast is complete.

Q. it was such a treat seeing Matt Greenfield and Tiffany Grant working with Kyle Jones on the ADR script for Parasytes dub! Even if only for a few epsiodes. Will we see em again doing the same or in bigger positions as staff!? Or did ya already put em in cryostasis for another decade? lol

A. Cryostasis?! Who told you about the secret cryostasis room in the basement of hidden garden behind the concealed… oh. Heh heh… please ignore that. Pssh… there’s is ABSOLUTELY no secret Sentai cryochamber.

In other news, we’re glad you enjoyed the ADR script for Parasyte -the maxim-, but we don’t have any news about that request for now.

Q. Are you planning on licensing any more shows from the winter season?

A. With winter season technically over, the answer is “possibly, but less likely.” We’re looking at the Spring 2016 anime season right now!

###MEME MONDAY #1
4/18/2016 10:19:12 AM

Before you realize…

And subsequently move into denial…

We have the cure for Monday blues and anything else getting you down.

Memes.

The best thing about memes is that they can take on many forms: a picture with simple text on it (per the kawaii example above), a video, a phrase, a joke - anything viral, really. Memes are the Internet’s version of an inside joke, and we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of that. We put together a collection of a few of our favorite ones so far just for YOU.

Ready for more good news? We’ll continue to do this every third Monday of the month to bring you some laughs!

###I Need An Adult (K-ON!)
K-On! is a must have when talking about memes, considering how many it’s spawned. Between the adorable characters, the fabulous animation, and the overwhelmingly precious amount of moe, K-On! is the perfect show to watch when you just feel like you can’t take on more things.

###Makeover, Migi Edition (Parasyte -the maxim-)
Parasyte -the maxim- wrapped up its symbiotic relationship with Toonami only a week ago, but some things will just live on forever. Shinichi’s glasses and boy-next-door-look was not one of those things.

###Final Four? No. (Haikyu!)
Ah, the sports. With our headquarters in Houston where the Final Four basketball games were played, we couldn’t help but let the Karasuno volleyball team put their two cents in. I wouldn’t wanna mess with them in this meme.

###Dub, Dub, Duuuub (My Love Story!)
One of our most exciting announcements late last year was the My Love Story! dub. Takeo’s face provides an endless reservoir of marvelously zany expressions, and this was no exception. Equal parts comedy, romance and beautiful baked goods, this show is sure to put you in a good mood… and make you want cake.

###All According to Keikaku (Himouto! Umaru-chan)
Umaru-chan from Himouto! Umaru-chan is a meme herself. She is literally the embodiment of a meme, not only prompting many herself, but also her Internet-informed and nerdy personality lends itself to being described as a meme. This isn’t a status that every person attains; we all know that Umaru is meme royalty.

###Daaaaamn, Bell-kun (Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)
We love our mythology inspired anime Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? because it asks the real questions. The meme that inspired this was very, very popular, as was Hestia’s blue ribbon. Thus, we just made the ultimate anime meme, and everyone can go home now.

###Meme On, Friend. Meme On.

Don’t be afraid to be a meme yourself. After all, it just means that you know the REAL important stuff. If you’re not that into memes, it’s no big deal. We’ll bring you guys a new Meme Monday every now and then so you can brush up on your memeology.

What’re your favorite anime memes? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and Google+!

###SHORT FORM ANIME YOU NEED IN YOUR LIFE
4/22/2016 11:23:22 AM

Sometimes the best things in life come in small packages; not so surprisingly, the same goes for anime.

Short form anime is also referred to as tanpen anime. A short anime is exactly what it sounds like - the episodes take up less time than the more common twenty-two minute or longer episode run time. Some shows are fifteen minutes long; others can be as short as three or five minutes! So, if you’re strapped for time and just want a quick anime to watch, look no further, we have your solution!

###Tonari no Seki-kun: The Master of Killing Time (Run Time: 8 Mins)
You’d think there would be a limit to the shenanigans a short form anime can get into in such a small amount of time. Nope. Tonari no Seki-kun is packed full of crazy antics with insane crafts, epic Shogi games, and adventures with the Robot family. With Seki-kun’s creativity and time wasting skills, it’s amazing that we get so much fun for so little time.

###Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories (Run Time: 4.5 Mins)
Want something a little more… thrilling? Well, Yamishibai is the short form anime for you. Based on actual Japanese myths and urban legends, it doesn’t matter that these episodes are so short - they’ll definitely chill your blood and have you sleeping with the lights on.

###The Comic Artist and His Assistants (Run Time: 15 Mins)
The Comic Artist and His Assistants is a comic-al harem anime with enjoyable characters and insights into the world of creating manga! Aito isn’t great with people, women in particular, but he does need people to help him attempt to stay on track. He doesn’t make that an easy task for his assistants and his editor, but it’s definitely entertaining to watch them try for fifteen minutes at a time!

###Wakaba * Girl (Run Time: 7 Mins)
Cute girls doing cute things! Nowhere in the definition of moe does it state that it has to be full length episodes, and (if you haven’t seen it already) Wakaba * Girl is the moe you’ve been missing out on. You can’t help but root for Wakaba, because she’s so excited to be the main character of her high school story. Also, magical ice cream.

###Di Gi Charat (Run Time: 5 Mins)
There’s never a dull moment with the Di Gi Charat crew! Throw a princess, her companions, and her rival into a sci-fi slice-of-life anime, and you have a recipe for endless entertainment despite the short episode length. The cute characters inspired by a Japanese game store take on a life of their own and are sure to brighten your day.

###Onigiri (Run Time: 3 Mins)
Video games can take a lot of dedication and, subsequently, a lot of time. With Onigiri, you can get the experience of the MMORPG without playing at all. Watch these spirited anime girls fight it out with monsters and strive to save their world before the system suspends their accounts for the use of illegal tools!

###TRY A BITE-SIZED ANIME TODAY!

These titles prove that a show doesn’t need to be twenty-five minutes or longer to be interesting or awesome. With something for everyone, this genre can truly satisfy your anime cravings when you need a quick fix.

What’s your favorite short form anime? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and Google+!

Q. Why do you guys stream your anime on so many different sites, instead of sticking to a single one? It’s incredibly inconvenient as a fan.

A. Our content is designed to reach as many fans as possible, and this means catering to the Crunchy crowd, the Hulu crowd, and the ANO crowd. There’s also VOD options, too. We try to make it a point to be where the fans are.

Q. Can you explain how your dubbing process works? Like, do you work in-house, do you have a pool of directors and actors with good relationships to Sentai that you consider first, etc.

A. The long and short of it is that we dub in-house at the Sentai Filmworks studio. We also have in-house directors, but our actors are contract, professional actors from around the country.

Q. What is your favorite Collector’s Edition release so far? Mine is the Nozaki-kun release because it comes with the sound track and just a ton of interviews and extras jammed into that hardcover booklet.

A. Beyond the Boundary! It has the Mirai Goodsmile keychain with the reversible face.

###OUR FAVORITE PINK-HAIRED ANIME CHARACTERS
4/29/2016 11:02:49 AM

Anime is well known for its realism and true-to-life situations, characters and physics.

Yeah… we all know that anime is rarely realistic when handling certain things, and hair color is probably one of the most noticeable of these aspects. In anime, you’ll find character hair colors like blue, purple, green - any color under the sun and then some! Today, we’re focusing on the pink haired characters of the anime world. Here are some of our faves.

###Meroune Lorelei Du Neptune (Monster Musume: Everyday Life With Monster Girls)
As the fifth monster girl to move into the Kimihito household, Meroune Lorelei Du Neptune, or just “Mero”, from Monster Musume is definitely more than she seems. Not only does she carry a royal aura, but her genuinely sweet nature is contrasted with her obsession with tragedy. According to her, mermaids are drawn to tragic stories like The Little Mermaid (the original version), and she is no exception. Perfectly willing to be Kimihito’s mistress on the side, or have one of them die to leave the other alone, Mero is still quite gentle and caring, making her one of our favorite pink haired anime girls thus far!

###Mine (Akame ga Kill!)
If anyone from Akame ga Kill! can be described as cute but deadly, it’s Mine. With aim on point, endless courage, and an iron will, this pink-pig-tailed sharpshooter is anything but dainty. Don’t let the frills and ribbon fool you: she is not afraid to use that gun. We love her for that.

###Yuki (School-Live!)
When moe meets the tough world of staying alive in a zombie apocalypse, there is a good chance there will be an endearing pink haired girl to brighten the situation. At least that’s the case in School-Live! where Yuki and her friends are existing inside their school to survive. Bubbly and precious, combine her with that puppy and this show couldn’t be more adorable… right?

###Stella Vermillion (Chivalry of a Failed Knight)
Stella from Chivalry of a Failed Knight deserves a star’s entrance into this humble blog, but yelling her name might be too common for a princess so… we digress. Literally fiery, and the definition of a classic tsundere, Stella warmed our hearts in the first episode. With her spunk and realistic uncertainty regarding her feelings toward Ikki, not to mention her substantial power and her struggles with it, Stella is the pink haired princess we adore.

###Lala Deviluke (To LoveRu Darkness 2)
There’s something to be said for dropping in unannounced. Lala takes that to a whole new level in To Loveru. In To Loveru Darkness 2, the fourth season of the series, Lala is up to her same antics with crazy inventions that, inevitably, cause Rito some form of harm. An ecchi classic, To Loveru manages to build endearing characters around what can be a formulaic genre.

###Yui Yuigahama (My Teen Romantic Comedy ~ SNAFU)
When the word “SNAFU” is in the title, you know there’s going to be some wicked misunderstandings and a lot of emotional wreckage. My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU capitalizes on its characterization, and Yui is a prime example of this. Her growth from customer of the Service Club to member is just the tip of the iceberg, and her cheery, outgoing attitude saves everyone from Hachiman’s sometimes caustic dry humor.

###Philuffy (Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle)
Sleepy, quiet, and often hungry, Philuffy from Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle, or “Phi”, is unwittingly adorable and, well, fluffy. An old friend of the main character, Lux, Phi is a talented Drag-Rider and very loyal to those she cares for. She may not be in control of her cute, pink head sometimes, but that’s not her fault at all (it’s actually quite the mystery).

###DON’T MISS THESE PINK POWERHOUSES!

If anything, these pink haired bombshells prove that the color pink is nothing to scoff at. They can hold their own and more in physical or mental battles! Who is your favorite pink haired Sentai character? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and Google+!

###TUESDAY NEW RELEASES: AZUMANGA DAIOH AND A LITTLE SNOW FAIRY SUGAR
5/3/2016 8:47:33 AM

Little fairies and girls with wacky school antics descend upon Sentai Filmworks this week with two new additions to our Sentai Selects line. First up, in A Little Snow Fairy Sugar, a young girl’s kindness to a little creature ends up attracting even MORE little fairies into her life! Is it true that there’s only so much cute a girl can handle? Last this week, but not least, we have the long awaited release of the classic anime comedy Azumanga Daioh. It’s time to don your father cat hat, get your pigtails in place, and enjoy this crazy ride (provided you survive the trip there in Yukari’s car!).

Which adorable adventure is coming home with you today?

###A Little Snow Fairy Sugar
When young Saga offers a waffle to a small hungry creature in a fluffy outfit, she has no idea that the “creature” is Sugar, an apprentice fairy sent to Earth to find a “twinkle” as part of her test to become a full-fledged season fairy! Unfortunately, neither Sugar nor her two companion fairies, Salt and Pepper, have any idea what a “twinkle” is, but that doesn’t stop them from moving in with the unusual girl who can somehow see them! And since none of Saga’s friends can see fairies, they all think that Saga is acting really strange. As more and more season fairies keep arriving, Saga’s bemusement turns into desperation. Can she find out what a twinkle is and help the fairies find one before she’s drowning in fairy dust? The answers will surprise you in the hilariously sweet adventure LITTLE SNOW FAIRY SUGAR!

Genres: Comedy, Fantasy, Slice of Life
Rating: TV-PG

###Azumanga Daioh
For the members of Miss Yukari’s English Class, a typical day may be just a little unusual. Part of that’s due to Miss Yukari herself, whose teaching style (and personal ethics) tend to be odd, improvisational and spontaneous, but her students are just as unconventional: There’s 10-year-old Chiyo, still at the top of her class after skipping five grades, and her opposite Ayumu “Osaka” Kasuga, whose poor grades are surpassed only by her horrific skill at sports. Then there’s Tomo, a competitive slacker who puts excessive energy into doing very little, and Koyomi, whose surprising maturity is compromised by a malevolent sense of humor. Tall, statuesque Sakaki’s athletic exterior hides both unexpected shyness and a most unfortunate obsession with cats, while tiny Kaori’s heart is mainly obsessed with Sakaki. They may all seem like perfectly normal girls on the outside, but even their most mundane activities magically become the most extraordinary adventures as they learn all about life, the universe and affairs of the heart in AZUMANGA DAIOH!

Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life
Rating: TV-PG

It’s already May! While we don’t have a title to contribute to the general May-memes that abound this time of year (we tried playing with Monster Musu-may, but nothing worked out.
