Plot Summary: Sakai Yuuji, a high school student who expected his normal life to last forever, is dead. When he was on his way home he witnessed a shocking view as the world suddenly froze: people were engulfed by blue flames and a monster resembling a large doll swallowed them. Just as the monster prepared to consume Yuuji, a sword-wielding girl in black attire with flaming red eyes and hair that burns like embers saved him from the monster. The girl called herself a “Flame Haze” who hunts the “Guze no Tomogara”, creatures from another world. As Yuuji noticed a blue flame in his chest, she called him a “Torch”, a temporary replacement, saying that the “real” Yuuji’s existence had already ended. Unfazed, Yuuji befriended the strange girl, named her “Shana”, and joined her fight against Tomogara and other Flame Hazes.
The July issue of ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko Magazine is announcing on Friday that the Shakugan no Shana III (Final) anime will premiere on television this fall. More information will be available in future issues of Dengeki Bunko Magazine.

Now all we need is Funi to get their butts in gear and release what they supposedly licensed; season 2, movie, ova, etc
but you know they’ll get season 3 and it’ll languish in limbo.

No kidding! It’s been over a year since they announced their licensing of the series and nothing. This was the one thing they announced out of all those licenses that I was excited about. I know they say there are issues with Geneon, whether true or not, but this is getting ridiculous.

That is why I generally like Sentai’s wait to it’s closer to when they can release it or to it’s solicited . Funimation has a bad habit of announcing something just to have something to announce at Conventions . Hopefully by the time they can get a date they will have more One Piece to release to. I know the last few sets of season three was getting hard to find shipping filler.

Funimation Delays Shakugan no Shana 2 to December

Anime retail store Right Stuf confirmed that Funimation’s Shakugan no Shana Second box sets have been delayed until December 11. The sets were originally planned for release on September 25.

Funimation announced its acquisition of the anime at Anime Expo in 2010.

It seems every time Funimation actually acquires something I want, they do everything in their power to persuade me not to buy it. First, there were the constant delays, which I admit weren’t entirely their fault. Then there was the change in cast. Then it appears that their bluray of season one uses the terrible upscaled Japanese masters and actually looks worse than the DVDs, which doesn’t give me much hope for seasons two and three.

Shana was the one thing I was really looking forward to from them, and now I’ve gotten to the point that I could really care less.

I’m not surprised by this at all, not one bit. It’s not the first delayed anime, and it won’t be the last. Let’s just hope it doesn’t get delayed again as the date gets closer, or they cancel the BD part of it.

To be honest, if they’re using the JP BD encodes, it’s probably best that they just cancel it.
I’ve seen the pics, those encode are horrible.
Not as bad as the S1 encodes, but still, nowhere near quality enough for a BD release.

First two series from what I’ve seen seem to fall in to that few years of Anime where it would have been better to just tweak the audio and leave the video alone for Blu-ray. To be clear from what I’ve seen there is this point in between the transition from SD to HD that encodes never seem to look that great.

I just read the OVA is missing in action from the Funimation S1 BD/DVD set.
