I wanted to do this for a bit as I’m kind of seeing an issue with a few of these especially as I get older as they are hard on the eyes.
First let’s start with the Whites
From Azur Lane Queens Orders OVA
Not bad they could stand to be a little more chunky but the black outline helps to keep them from blending in.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 1
Again not bad but in this case I feel the outline could be a little more defined to help it not blend in on darker scenes
Sailor Moon
Outline is not pronounced enough and can blend in to much
Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon
I feel this is the best of the bunch letters are big and easy to read and the outline is enough to not blend in.
On to Yellow:
Infinite Stratos
The size is fine but the outline is to thin.
DarkStalkers OVA
I feel this is the best one of the yellows. Bigger letters and just enough outline to not blend in.
Star Drivers
The size is fine but the outline could stand to be a little thicker.
I Don’t Like You at All, Big Brother!!
I feel again while the size is fine and will help the outline is a little thin.
Yandere Dark Elf: She Chased Me All the Way From Another World!
Again Size is fine but a stronger outline would be great.
A little Combo action:
Cutie Honey: The Live
White I’d Say Crunchyroll comes out the best now a days.
Yellow Discotek
Crunchyroll and Discotek both do a decent job when using multiple colors.
Now I am not a big fan of Yellow Subtiles. It hurts my eyes a bit especially when they don’t include a good outline ratio.
All my opinion of course but I just feel it’s better to make something easier to read then hurtful to the eyes.
Will add a bit more from other companies as I get more time.
