The Gamers: Hands of Fate Plot Summary
Funded by over 4000 Kickstarter backers, The Gamers: Hands of Fate follows Cass (Brian Lewis) as he sets out to win a collectible card game world championship… and a date with Natalie (Trin Miller), one of the game’s top players.
Meanwhile in Countermay, a world far across time and space, Myriad (Samara Lerman) begins to suspect that fate has stacked the deck against her as she attempts to save her kingdom from a ravenous army of the undead.

Set at Gen Con Indy, a massive midwest games convention, this fantasy comedy from the makers of Dorkness Rising and JourneyQuest presents a new chapter in the epic, decade-spanning tale that began in The Gamers.
The DVDs shipped out today.

That first trailer was rather interesting…you have both now? How’d they turn out?

They just shipped out today, so I don’t know how they turned out yet.

Whoa! My bad, let me slow down here.

Not to worry, I’ll post pics when they do show up.
And I’ll say how they turned out when I get around to watching them.
Though that may be awhile, what with all the other things on my backlog and the fact that my best friend wants to watch them too (she’s the one who bought them for us to watch).

They showed up in the mail today.
Now I just have to somehow get my best friend off her computer long enough to watch them.

Just finished up The Gamers.
Man, that was just funny as hell!

DG put the first 3 chapters of The Gamers on YT.

This is one of my favorite parts though.

Balista, haven’t heard that in a while. Gonna have to see more of this.

Seems you’re the only one though (besides me).

Hey, their loss. Where’s your pants?

So I just finished up Dorkness Rising tonight.

Definite change of pace from the The Gamers while keeping the humor and upping the SFX.
GDR has a richer story, and is not as straight-out game humor oriented as TG was, but it still had absolutely hilarious parts.

Definitely glad I bought the DVDs now, and I hope to see them do a new Gamers movie some time soon. That would just be awesome!

Also, with the release of the season finale JourneyQuest episode, there comes an Easter Egg for the Gamers/Dorkness Rising fans…

The Gamers: Dorkness Rising:

So, the news is the return of Dorkness Rising in a Special Edition release.

Dead Gentlemen Announces a New Edition of THE GAMERS: DORKNESS RISING

The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is coming back to DVD! Featuring multiple commentary tracks, subtitles in many languages, outtakes, and deleted scenes in an all-new special edition, the DVD will be released region-free for sale worldwide.

For the new release, Dead Gentlemen Productions is partnering with sister company and distributor Zombie Orpheus Entertainment (ZOE). ZOE will release the DVD under their FAN SUPPORTED, CREATOR DISTRIBUTED model (link). This includes a broad non-commercial Creative Commons license (link), a copyleft approach to file-sharing and “piracy”, licensing the property for third-party commercial derivative works via the Creator Endorsed trademark (link), a digital release through distribution partner IndieFlix, and distribution to the worldwide hobby market through Paizo Publishing.

“ZOE is a company that believes in building long-term, sustainable relationships with a passionate fan base,” says Ben Dobyns, founder of Zombie Orpheus Entertainment. “Dorkness Rising is a fantastic fit for our approach to distribution and we look forward to helping the film continue to grow as we empower its fans to download, share, and remix the project.”

“We at DG are just really excited about what Ben is doing with ZOE,” said Don Early, President of Dead Gentlemen Productions, LLC. “Having direct interaction and access to our fan base has always been at the top of our priorities. With traditional distribution, you lose a lot of that. With ZOE, the fans get to directly support and participate in what we’re doing, and we get to stay connected. That’s what we’re all about.”

“We’re also excited about this new release of Dorkness Rising,” continues Ben Dobyns, “because this distribution model will help make a Gamers sequel happen much sooner. Our biggest sequel roadblock has been recouping Dorkness Rising’s budget. With the increased dollar value of direct distribution, we’ll be able to recoup and start work on a sequel much sooner than we could while waiting for traditional distribution models to pay out.”

The new DVD of The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is expected to release in April 2011. Fan content and submissions will be encouraged!

One of my (as well as a lot of other peoples) favorite parts from DR, which they’re adding all kinds of Pizzajistsu extras on the new Special Edition DVD.

Looks like ZOE posted the SJ Tucker “Playing D&D” music video on YT, that will be an extra on the new DR DVD.
So I figured I’d share, since I got a kick out of it.

Great song!

It really is!
I’m glad they’re adding the music vid to the extras on the DVD.

And though I probably should have mentioned it before, you can actually download that song for free.
