The cod âdudebrosâ are on one side, the indie retro guys are on the other and anyone who doesnât fit that bill is left out. Sucks being in the middle.
I doubt that itâll change. For years the âmoe is the cancer that is killing animeâ meme has been around but if anything has happened during those years it has been that anime has gotten more moe. I have this sinking feeling that gaming will be the same, that the protests from those in the middle will not really be heeded.
Iâd say that something like Dishonored was a success (though not a perfect game IMO) but it doesnât hold a candle to cod/battlefield or mine craft. As observed with deus ex human revolution and thief, even games that donât appeal to either camp are altered so that they, in the minds of corporate drones, should.

I think once I finish my programming class Iâd like to work on something similar to this.
Oculus Rift = headed by a has-been, lost its key visionary and was bought by Facebook. Also, those graphics suck. My eyes would bleed if I were looking at that. Maybe thatâs why the guy doing the voiceover sounded as though he had some serious issues, because of the eyestrain?
Games in the 90s looked better than that.

Itâs an indie game so compared to modern multi-million $ games yea they suck but as far as worse than games from the 90s? thatâs a stretch. Iâm optimistic on FBâs buy, thereâs so many applications for the OR beyond entertainment that its feasible with their deep pockets those applications can be perused sooner. As far as bashing FBâs choice I wonât saying negative until they actually f*ck it up.
Thereâs no excuse for an indie game to look that bad. Iâve seen better 3d environments made in the âgame designâ classes at my local community college. For serious.
EDIT: I donât understand this chip music scene at all. We only tolerated that low-tech stuff in its day because it was the best that we could get and we didnât know any better. Now that we do, why go back? I can understand the allure of âretroâ in general but why go back to something that is hands-down worse than what we have today?

It is not possible to get âmore validâ. Luckily, my comment doesnât have to as it always was valid. There is no excuse for any game to look that bad.
Thereâs also no excuse for the horrid voiceover in that video but thatâs another story.
