Anime Suggestions!

But then there’s Parasite Dolls.

Speaking of which, the Japanese extras on DNAngel give rare insight into the Japanese side of anime production. Truly rare as they show joint dialogue recording sessions and reading to storyboards instead of ADR.

Too bad few will have the chance see them now. Thanks Discotek.

Parasite Dolls it’s a 3 episode OVA. It’s cheap and easy filler. Really though without the numbers and prices it’s hard to say if they just keep it because it’s cheap or if they got it as part of some other deal. Heck maybe they decided to just buy the full rights.lol

Last two ADV and the Discotek DNAngel sets not having extra’s have me wondering more if the Japanese did not take them back along with the english extra’s as soon as ADV finished the singles then either lost them or won’t come off them anymore.

Nothing Discotek has done suggests to me that they would seek out the extras. They haven’t really established that they go “above and beyond”, which is part of the reason that I’m not a fan of them. Even Media Blasters had more “zazz”, more fan outreach and commitment, than does Discotek.

It really depends what decade of Anime your into. For the Old School fans it’s either them or Rightstuf/Nozomi. Not many other companies would take a chance on the stuff Discotek has licensed. They also have been very upfront when they can’t get something or what kind of video they were given. Not many companies are anymore until it’s already been released and someone complains.

I understand some people want of extra’s and a dub but for the most part there is a reason why shows end up where they do. Newer stuff it’s more to do with money and with older stuff it has more to do with bigger companies not wanting to take the chance on older stuff because years ago it did not sell much at all. Now it’s still probably not selling a lot , but it must be doing enough for Discotek. I mean at least they are not doing Burn on Demand like Warner is for old cartoons because they did not sell them right in the first place . lol

ok psychopuppet, went to the nozomi site and there were a couple i might want to see, one is called Rental Magica and have you ever heard of one called Dirty Pair? possibly that one too. oh and btw, i seen you have Hell Girl 2 Mirrors on demand right now, is there any way we may see season 1?

Dirty Pair and Dirty Pair FLASH is old-school ADV. very good.

be nice to see it…and wouldnt be the first nozomi to show on TAN. (shingu, gravitation, aria, gauken alice jsut to name a few others that have shown form nozomi.)

Season one was licensed by Funimation. They passed on the other seasons after the sales didn’t perform up to expectations. It’s also the reason why seasons two and three are not dubbed.

Two license recuses from Geneon

Kyou Kara Maou
Yuri Shibuya was living a pretty normal life. That changed the day he was dunked into a toilet after an attempt to save a classmate from a gang of bullies. Instead of just getting a good soaking, he’s pulled in. The next thing he knows, he’s in a world that vaguely resembles medieval Europe. If that’s not odd enough, he’s told that he is to be the next Maoh, just because he has black hair and black eyes. The Maoh is the King of the Mazoku, who are coexisting not-so-peacefully with the humans in this world. Much to his subjects’ dismay, he’s totally different from the rulers they’re accustomed to. He’s kind, considerate, a believer in justice, and not willing to use violence to solve conflicts. Not exactly someone they want running a country on the very brink of war. Now, Yuri has to deal with trying to become a good Maoh, while at the same time attempting to adapt to this lands’ customs and culture, all in a world where the tension between the humans and Mazoku is reaching its peak.

Shonen Onmyouji
Abe no Masahiro is the grandson of the greatest onmyouji Abe no Seimei. His grandfather sealed his sixth sense (the ability to sense monsters) in order to protect him. He doesn’t know about it until he meets Mokkun. While fighting his first monster he breaks the seal and his quest to become the next greatest onmyouji begins.

Theses are based off the fact you licensed and dubbed No.6

07-Ghost
Set in a gothic fantasy world, this is the story of Teito Klein, an orphaned slave who became the top military academy student. However, an unexpected turn of events left him pursued by the forces of the Barsburg Empire. Now an escaping convict, Teito’s sheltered by the church and its law of sanctuary. Here, he discovered many mysteries surrounding himself, the church, and the Empire itself. The fact that he might be connected to a dethroned king and the mystical stone of god, “The Eye of Mikhael”, made him the target of the empire more than ever. Fortunately the church is under the mythical 7 Ghost protection. But who are the Ghosts really. Will Teito be free from the military’s clutch, and what of his said mission to uncover the history. And who is the military’s Chief-of-Staff Ayanami exactly. Teito’s future seems to have spiraled into an unexpectedly perilous path.

Monochrome Factor
The story revolves around high school student Akira Nikaido, a typical slacker living a normal life. That is, until he meets the mysterious Shirogane, a man who suddenly appears and tells him to meet him at the school that night. Though he is skeptical, he goes anyway, and subsequently gets attacked by a shadow monster. Shirogane convinces him that the balance between the human world and the shadow world has been distorted, and that Akira must become a “shin”, which is a creature of the shadow world, in order to help restore the balance.

The Betrayal Knows My Name
Sakurai Yuki is a mysterious boy with a mysterious ability. He was found in the bushes as a baby and adopted by his current family. Because of this, Yuki strives for independence. The last thing he wants is to be a burden to anybody. Furthermore, when he touches others, he can feel their emotions. Unable to control his ability, he often made insensitive blunders in the past. With death threats and his abilities increasing, somebody appears claiming to be his brother.

Also, on a little note, Funi asked fans if they wanted this anime, but I would like it if Sentai got it as Chris Patton no longer voices for Funi and he has the perfect voice for Zess/Luka

Togainu no Chi
Several years after the end of a war, the city of Toshima has fallen into decay and been taken over by the crime syndicate Viscio. There, the head of the syndicate, Il Rey, has convened the battle game “Igura.” Meanwhile, Akira, falsely accused of a crime, has made a deal to earn his pardon: go to Toshima, defeat Il Rey, and destroy the syndicate.

Ai No Kusabi (both OVA and 2012 remake)
On planet Amoi, a great society has developed, creating a computerized city called Tanagura, ruled by supercomputer Jupiter. The populace is almost entirely male and is based on hair color; silver and/or blonds are the elitist, ending with dark/black haired as the bottom of society, often known as “mongrels”. Blondies keep “pets”, young boys kept for a few years, especially made for performing sexual actions for the Blondie’s voyeurism entertainment. Blondies aren’t suppose to keep pets for long or interact sexually with pets, but one blondie named Iason Mink has kept a pet named Rikki, for years and is rumored to sleep with him. Iason refuses to let go of Rikki, even with Jupiter’s disapproval. Rikki fights with his emotions and society problems, unable to decide what to do about his old friend/lover Gai (Guy) and their gang. Iason is obsessed with keeping Rikki, and Rikki doesn’t know what to do; fight against him or surrender to him.

I second Kuo Kara Maoh, and 07-Ghost. KKM had a fairly limited life span in R1, and the boxsets are out of print. Plus, the third season was never localized. I’ve also always wanted to see 07-Ghost, especially as Go Comi went bust and never finished the manga.

and suddenly I had no doubt that my guess was right on the money as to the nature of this show. I don’t think that it’s a stretch for Sentai to release something so, ah, gay, as they did just license Cluster Edge.

When did that happen? I do still think of him as a Sentai actor, first and foremost. Same with Spike Spencer.

Going up the thread a bit, Michiko e Hatchin needs to be licensed and dubbed already.

Awhile ago.
I think FMA:Brotherhood was his last FUNi casting.
If I remember correctly, he mentioned it on his FB page (or something similar) in a rather dissatisfied tone when the whole lawsuit of FUNi suing ADV (and all the new companies as well) for $8mil came to light.

Well that would help me to view him in a better light, though that does come as a bit of a shock after reading some of his material on the internet.

Viz picked up the 07-ghost manga, just thought you’d like to know,

First off, if you’d even thought about looking it up…it’s a yaoi title. About one of the best yaoi titles that have been on the market. It’s not like that normal fluffy romance stuff that is normally made, it’s pretty dark…no happy ending. Sentai said they would be willing to license yaoi and they have one coming out dubbed, No.6. Oh yes, No.6 is a yaoi title and they dubbed it.

Chris Patton stopped working for Funimation when Funi sued ADV…I think he tweeted about it like before 2012 started. He’s only for the Sentai dubs now, but not like he played many major roles for Funimation anyway. But he’ll refuse returning roles if they pick up anything that he’s been in the past.
