Two days later and only 1 1/2 of the Tonkatsu “cutlets” remain. ( Keep in mind that these “cutlets” were nearly the size of small dinner plates and there were 10 of them. ) I took a hoagy roll sliced it in two and put the 1/2 Tonkatsu between the buns, slathered with spicy mayo, leuttuce and pickled pepper slices. An ersatz Katsupan sandwich. Again this has proven to be quite tasty.
More food related thoughts. I’m trying the new Lay’s Potato Chip 2015 contest flavor. Reuben Sandwich. Yep, you can taste the sauerkraut. The other contest flavor my wife brought home is California Truffle. (Truffle?)
And you thought the Japanese had weird flavors on their Potato Chips.
Those are some weird flavors. One year, I did see Thanksgiving dinner chips, but never had the nerve to try them. I think Pringles once had a roasted turkey flavor as well.
Did you ever have one of those days when you long for your youth?
Perhaps you saw or heard something that reminded you of days gone by.
I’m not talking about a couple of years ago or high school, I’m talking about when you were maybe 4 or 5, and remembering it almost hurts your heart that you’ll never be able to recapture those feelings again. That true innocence and way of looking at things… everything was always all right with the world.
I’m 56 years old, there are a lot of things / people / places from my early youth, that 4 - 5 year old period which was 1962 to 1964 for me, that are gone and I mean really gone. There are times when it feels like the pain of those losses will absolutely crush me. Doesn’t happen often, fortunately, and I’m lucky to have many new things / people / places ( like here ) that help me.
I think this is rather common for everyone at some point. I get such longings myself. Things were much easier / simpler then as well. And there was always someone around to make the imaginary bad things go away and protect you. I am pretty sure I had a lot more freedom then than I do now and I often miss it. Growing up brings too many responsibilities!
You start realizing your getting old when you go to see your friends band play and the volume is to loud . Hearing just came back to normal from Saturday and the ringing finally stopped .
I miss the days of being able to be on here everyday passing time with you all . To many things to do on a daily basis . Heck not even been able to keep up on any of my hobbies . I do try to get on everyday to check slowhands pm she sends me .
You know it’s funny. Not that long ago I wondered where all the Mods went on these forums since it felt so empty, until I found out everybody’s just been under a gigantic workload lately.
We always look forward to seeing you on the forums when you get time to breathe and have fun. I have missed your anime pickup posts.
I’m just gonna say it. The collapsible text is probably the best forum feature ever. This has completely changed posting forever IMO. Thumbs up for tidiness!
It’s quite early on the race to 5000 for Part 2 yet but I’m already considering a big overhaul for One Word Leads to Another (Part 3). Think this but a much different and larger version that’ll really keep you on your toes and trusting your fellow posters.
More Potato Chip weirdness. We got the other two types of Lay’s 2015 contest chips, Southern Biscuit & Gravy and Gyro. The Biscuit & Gravy tastes like, well Biscuits & Gravy with a lot of pepper in the gravy. The Gyro tastes like lamb or maybe goat flavor really not something I’d be looking for on a chip mind you.
All in all I say give me the Wasabi & Soy winning flavor from last year.
