I’m almost surprised we don’t get at least one more bonus episode to show us what might have happened for Tomoya to date Kotomi, also.
Ep. 25 is pretty much a recap from Tomoya, as told to Ushio (for the most part) - all but the very last footage is recycled from previous episodes. If you’re confused by how things wrapped up, it’s okay, even Tomoya isn’t entirely sure what really happened, if Nagisa and Ushio both really died, or not.
Newshawk - Yes, there might be a little J.J. Abrams in there!
ShawnMerrow - I saw that preview too. Strange, wasn’t it?
Episode 25 -

This was an interesting final episode. Tomoya tells Ushio the story of meeting Nagisa and their life together before Ushio’s birth. I like how Sunohara is now “Uncle Youhei” and the fact that they have kept in touch with all of their friends.
When Ushio asks about the story of the girl in the other world, Tomoya doesn’t know anything about the title or the author and says – “we don’t even know how the story ended.” He says that Nagisa thought she heard the story when she was little and strangely enough, Tomoya felt like he knew the story as well. The light orbs are mentioned again too.
Tomoya also has a memory of Nagisa dying when Ushio was born and remembers taking a trip with Ushio when she was five. The Ushio of now is fine and has never been ill, but Tomoya remembers that the “Ushio of that world never recovered” when she became sick. He also remembers returning to the exact moment when Ushio was born and says “it’s a strange story – but I think it actually happened.”
I think it’s nice that he fully believes in the town now too. And it’s funny that he just happens to be sitting under the tree with a sleeping Ushio and Fuko. Then Nagisa’s voice calls out for them to go home.
A really sweet ending to the story that lets you draw your own conclusions. In remembering Nagisa’s words of taking Tomoya to a place where wishes come true, perhaps in this world they really do.
This is awesome now my R3 Clannad: After Story box will be complete with a bilingual and and sub only versions! Hopefully Section23 will release After Story in a brick case similar to Bandai’s Anime Legends or the first brick releases ADV did in 2008/2009 before the transition to STACKpaks. I would pay a $1-3 extra for the package. These are definite pre-orders for me once solicited.
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome news! I will now have something to fill my R3 After Story Box. I’m looking forward to the movie as well.
More surprising than the movie license (which really isn’t all that surprising) is how Sentai announced this. It’s good to see them out and interacting with the fans more like the old days.
Tell me about it! I should have planned to go there-it was only a 90 minute to two hour drive. I hope this means we may be able to get some Sentai representation at next year’s Tokyo In Tulsa.
It’s also interesting how Sentai announces stuff like this at smaller cons, while (the other company) is at a larger con in Virginia and doesn’t announce anything. This was also the case when they first announced Clannad (before even Sentai had been announced.)
Tortured by his past and pained by an uncertain future, Tomoya drifts through life with an almost overwhelming anger and emptiness. But when he meets the mysterious, beautiful, and shy Nagisa, his world seems to change. Drawn in by her gentle but lonely spirit, he begins to experience the joy life can bring. But as he discovers the reason for his newfound friend’s loneliness, Tomoya also finds that life can be frighteningly fragile.
A few months have passed since Tomoya declared his love to Nagisa. Now their relationship is entering a new phase, and neither is quite sure where it will take them. As their friends move on to lives of their own, Tomoya and Nagisa get ready to start a family of their own. But Nagisa’s health has always been precarious, and an event that should bring nothing but joy delivers tragedy instead.
Now Tomoya must learn to accept the bitter with the sweet and to understand that the most important thing is to hold onto love, no matter what.
Plagued by a seemingly endless stream of haunting dreams, Tomoya drifts through life with an almost overwhelming sense of anger and emptiness. Then, one fateful day, he meets the mysterious and beautiful Nagisa and his world begins to change. While helping Nagisa revive the defunct Drama Club at their high school, Tomoya discovers that she has the same dreams. Their story starts beneath the cherry blossoms, but where will fate lead them?
On the bright side, there is a very good chance After Story won’t have a StackPack. YUA Season 2 used a single width case with two dvd’s on each side. It’s still not what I prefer, but it’s an improvement over the stack pack.
However, the pictures of the front cover of After Story appear to have the same dimensions as the Clannad case. I’m not worried-I bought enough multi packs so I have one waiting for After Story.
That may be true, but you can’t really judge what type of packaging it will have just by the cover art. If you compare the cover art for many of the Sentai 2 disc M-lock sets, the dimensions are also identical to these. I’m just saying there is a strong possibility it won’t have a stack pack, especially since Sentai and their replicator seem to buy their cases in bulk and work through them. This and Special A will be their only complete collections since then, so there is a good chance it will use those.
I honestly didn’t know about the YUA case until someone posted it on Mania a week or two agan.
I love this show its well written and the story is very good not my usual taste but nice to get away from the blood, death, and destruction once in a while speaking of destruction enjoy Kotomi causing chaos.
