A lot of those titles that are still on there were originally acquired by both companies for streaming. Some are as far back as when the TAN player did the simulcast for Demon King Daimao. One of those TAN had a week delay before they could stream it deals. I think that was also around the time CR was given money and transitioned from Pirate to legit. Could be off by a year or two on that though.
That is the least of my worries. I had VRV from when they added HIDIVE until the HIDIVE Roku app was rolled out and dumped VRV immediately afterwards. The only thing other than HIDIVE I watched on VRV was gen:LOCK.

UPDATE: Funimation Titles Now Available on Crunchyroll
March 15, 2022 11:00am CST
So I see a lot of people miffed the Funimation name was the one to be going away. It’s a simple reason for this in my opinion. Funimation only had its name used in NA and parts of the UK. A good chunk of the rest of the world even though they don’t have a bit of stuff we do had Crunchyroll. So if Sony is going for a World brand Anime company then Crunchyroll getting picked over Funimation makes more sense.
There may also for all we know be plans to sell off the brand as a empty shell once the full transfer of content is done.

Sony Fattens Up Crunchyroll’s Menu: Why Anime Is Its Biggest Streaming Bet
2022-03-17T16:30:00Z
The conglomerate continues to invest in its digital strategy catering to anime superfans
Reading the Variety article, what jumped out at me wasn’t anything from Sony on Crunchyroll but this statement on AMC Networks plans for Sentai/HIDIVE: “…but going forward AMC’s primary goal is to expand the content and reach of Hidive.”(sic.)
Sounds like they are going to keep Sentai releasing stuff on disc to. The thing about CR sounds like Sony really does not care about releasing stuff anymore and want to just focus on streaming.
I may and hope I’m just reading/understanding things wrong.
From what I’ve seen, Sony will eventually rebrand their physical media releases as Crunchyroll. This is from ANN:
Will the Funimation brand continue to be used for home video or other contexts?
A Funimation spokesman told ANN that although the Funimation service will continue with no current end date, home video will eventually move to the Crunchyroll brand internationally and domestically, with the exception of Germany and France where home video will continue to be released under the Kazé brand.
They already have, as of the June Roster.
Unfortunately, the selections are very slim pickings, and, IMO, there could have been better selections to release.
Hopefully it’s just a rough first month, with the amalgamation and all, but we’ll have to see in the upcoming months…
