As great as Darker than Black is I don’t know if I want to order this. The inclusion of a “display easel” leads me to believe that storing this product will be awkward, like the Bebop premium collections.
Has Funi pulled off a premium collection without any errors yet? The “self-destructing” Lain set and the print errors with Psycho-pass concern me.
This is the one that I really like the box art for, and I suppose with the new Premium edition getting ready to ship they decided they didn’t want any lower priced alternative version of S1 concurrently on the market. Like everything else in life, fewer choices are better for the TPTB. Fortunately we still have some FN-07459 in the warehouse so if anyone still wants only the classic edition we should still have them in stock for a short while.
Dunno about the RACS assessment of this one: isn’t that Anime Classics version of DtB a DVD-only set? Now that DtB is going to be out on bluray it’s better that they stop producing that version in preparation for the eventual bluray version of DtB Anime Classics. IMO.
My LE of Darker than Black Season 1 arrived and it’s interesting. It’s done in a “secret mission dossier” scheme, and Funi, for better or for worse, went the whole nine yards and made it so that the box is held shut by the “loop the rope around the rivets” system seen on the Manilla envelopes that report cards used to come in back in the day.
Kinda seems like Funi should have made it like those old “song” greeting cards and had it play Secret Agent Man when it is opened.
Artbook art doesn’t look that sharp, but not too blurry.
Tragically, as soon as I took the holder for the blurays out of the box, the discs all fell out of the bottom. Discs are only affixed by cheap cardboard partial sleeves that cover <50% of the disc. That’s not a good idea.
