Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet / Suisei no Gargantia

1: Straw man argument
2: Gargantia pictures prove my point
3: Cherry picking a video game, which is a borderline straw man

Chamber has less detail than the under-detailed moe 2d characters in Gargantia and he definitely has less than those backgrounds that you’ve pointed out.

It was an underwhelming show with bad CG. I do hope that the new material for this show improves upon it but I doubt that it will. Perhaps the only good thing about Gargantia, when all was said and done, was that its allegory for growing up and entering the “real world” made no bones about how school/government lies to you when you’re growing up.

I didn’t say this. Ever. I don’t agree with it, though now that you mention that you hold the art in Gargantia in a lower regard than I do, I see why we’ve failed to come to an understanding here as I’ve been approaching this from the wrong angle

Why are you pursuing this straw man? That’s like a straw man “squared” at this point: A strawman within a strawman. You have achieved, in the spirit of that Oculus Rift video you posted on here, “StrawCeption”. My remarks about the PS2, to break it down for you, were that the 3d models on it lacked detail and texture, a lacking that was “compensated” for by simple coloring and lighting effects, like Chamber. This connection between mecha games on PS2 and Chamber is something of your own creation.

Your screenshots really did prove my points as I made them. Thanks for doing the legwork for me there

Back on topic.

Any chance that Viz reversed the cast for pinion and chamber when they released this?

The guy who hammed up Levi is going to play “gravitas bot” ? I don’t see it.

Seitz and Lee will likely make Amy and Pinion more respectable and less annoying but I fear they’ll make them so well before the story takes them (well, pinion) there.

Wow, the art for that promo pic of this new Reema character is way better than the art of the first series. If the art for the new production had art that detailed it’d be a big improvement.

Viz decided not to dub all of the specials on its NA release of this? :frowning:

I don’t have any interest in buying this one but I find the precedent disappointing. Also disappointing is the box art that Viz went with as it lacks zazz.

I just went through the dub clips and, while some characters are improved by the dub, Chamber has been downgraded from wise fatherly “brobot” into the Robot from Lost in Space. This has had the unfortunate effect of making me see Ledo in a Will Robinson light.

Sadly there is not a character in the show that could be appropriately given a Dr. Smith accent and speech pattern to go along with it. :frowning:
