Rebooting Ghostbusters as an all woman cast, I have to ask why? What will it serve to do? Just to replace Ramis who recently died this year and because Murray doesn’t want to do it again?

I get it people think not enough female leads in movies, but do we really need to see stupid females as ghostbusters? That is what everyone was except Winston, jsut an overgrown kid. The strong females were Janeane and Dana Barret. All the ghostbusters really did was comedy in line with SNL and jsut a step away from fart jokes at all times.

It was good, but what would an all female ghostbusters cast add to it even? Is this really like adding the She-elf to the Hobbit movies just because females could only enjoy a Hobbit story with lots of females? From what I have heard over 20 years was females liked the Hobbit as Tolkien wrote it. Another SyFy instead of SciFi thing because women don’t like and fear SciFi?

Pretty bad when the women promoting things “for women” are coming off more sexist than the original thing they are trying to allude is sexist!

Gozer the Gozerian may have been a scantily glad female, but was a God only defeated as the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. I am thinking there was plenty of strong females int he original without needing a female cast when there were 2 females that NOBODY could do anything to stop until one turned into a hellhound and the other turned into a MAN. Then the man was easily defeated…

political correctness has become the new racism/sexism/[insert other -ism here it is trying to fight]

Iron Man 3 has already been on Encore channel and is On Demand. Hulk (Ruff…) even had a part in it meaning that is comes after Avengers. (There were other things but I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t seen it.)

The reason why the new Ghostbusters movie really doesn’t appeal to me is, that it’s really not treading any new ground for the franchise. It’s basically a remake of the original movie in Drag.

Both trailers for the new film just look bad. Like a campy Disney movie. Thinking High School Musical here.

The people didn’t seem t work well together, the humor was dry or unnoticeable and they didn’t seem to care they were fighting ghosts.

Who even are any of the people? I have never seen any of them before in anything. Looks like only a tacky remake just to switch genders of characters like many other movies to me. Why even switch to a male secretary? Why not have a full female cast rather than flip sexism to the other side? Janine worked as a female secretary not because “that is what women do” but because she could handle and control the men and they respected her and treated her like one of the guys. (Even Venkman couldn’t phase her.) The guy just seems dumb and out of place like he didn’t know what he was doing in the trailer.

Why is Hollywood so pathetic it can’t come up with anything new so swaps skin color, or gender and calls it new? Why not just make something NEW? There is so much new technology of the world today, they could have exercised and made better sense than the new James Bond gadgets did, but they wasted potential form the looks of the trailers and just really remade something that already existed, still exists for people to watch; so why should anyone watch this version when the original is on Youtube, Netflix, VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, etc?

Even the poll here shows nobody is interested but who knows. Anybody angry about this should just watch the classics. Nothing will sway their decision with the 2016 movie.

But Snowy, the problem is they keep making remakes of everything and NONE of them are good except the remake of Lord of the Rings.

Already remakes take over and crowd out the originals, take TAN for example, you cant find the good version of Appleseed ever play because the CG version.

How many times have the rebooted Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk?

Lion King has an anniversary showing didn’t it? How long before they give it the Tarzan and Jungle Book treatment and do it all “live” action?

The biggest problem I have isn’t that they are taking something that is good, and trying to remake it and it turns out just slightly modernized with bad modern humor and current world tech; but they aren’t trying to do anything new. I can watch the old stories and have many times and so can younger generations on DVD, Blu-Ray, Netflix, etc. When do we get new things? New stories? New characters? Anime rehashes themes often ad nauseam because there is so much, but everything is a new show with a new twist for the most part.

We need more Polar Express (I didn’t like the movie that much, but it was NEW), Harry Potter, type things where they take a risk to provide something new to movie watchers, TV watchers, etc.

Why couldn’t it have been Venkman’s kid with Sigourney grown up and having to find replacements for his aging seniors, or set somewhere NOT in New York, maybe an earthquake in LA or San Fran opened some trans-dimensional portal that is spitting out ghosts that must be dealt with?

Why is everything a reboot like Maleficent, and just a retelling with a different angle?

Jimmy Kimmel they had the original cast I feel was too happy about the movie, and made it see like they were over-hyped and his whole show the other night was just a publicity stunt.

I was weary to begin with hearing an all female cast, and Egon passing; but just another remake makes it worse than making the guys into girls for no reason at all. If the characters are good and strong, gender and race means nothing, but for crying out loud don’t just change developed characters gender or race, even with a new name; just make NEW characters and give them their own story. I would have preferred a new story with all female cast than a complete gender-swap of all the characters to tell the same story. :rolling_eyes:
