Hangman

This is a little bit of a complex game to set up. I worked it out on another forum and I want to see if I can get it to work here on this forum as well.

For the start of this game, I will serve as the executioner. The role of the executioner is to create and administrate the puzzle.

Letters guessed:

Strikes:
0
A player may guess a single letter.

The executioner indicates whether the letter exists in the puzzle.
INTERNET WEBSITES

TE A*E ETOK

Letters guessed:
A, E, K, O, P, T, Z

Strikes:
2
A player may guess the whole puzzle.

The executioner indicated whether the guess was correct or incorrect.
The player is correct! The player is the new executioner!
An incorrect letter is a strike. An incorrect complete guess is a strike. When ten strikes are made, the game is over and a new puzzle is started. Spelling is important on part of both the player and executioner.

The player who guesses the last correct letter or guesses the correct whole puzzle becomes the next executioner. The executioner should examine the “Hangman” thread at least once a day; otherwise, the game is considered abandoned.

Please enjoy the game!

ACTOR / ROLE / FILM

******** ***** / ******** ********* / *******

Letters guessed:

Strikes:
0

I will guess first:

R

ACTOR / ROLE / FILM

R*** ***** / R* **R / R

Letters guessed:
R

Strikes:
0

Sweet! Since you didn’t really specify “turns”, I will try again.

T

ACTOR / ROLE / FILM

RT** *T / R **R / R

Letters guessed:
R, T

Strikes:
0

Well, I will keep trying until someone else jumps in.

I think I figured this out… We’ll see though…

Is there a… wait…

I’m going to just guess it… that’ll be more fun

Kurtwood Smith/ Clarence Boddicker/ Robocop

Interesting…

If it is correct, I think future games may work better if you use _ instead of *. With asterisks, it’s a little hard to count the number of spaces.

Something like this:

_ _ _ _ _ _ so you get H _ R _ E _

or something like this:

------ so you get -O-N-T

Like this one. I think it makes it a bit clearer.

I agree, however it’s a bit difficult to see where a new word begins… for example:

H _ R N _ _ _ _ _ H _ _ R _ _ _ _ _ _

That’s 4 words there… the only way to fix that would be to do each word on a separate line… like this:

H _ R N _ _

_ _

_ H _

_ R _ _ _ _ _ _

that way, you can see that there’s 4 words

by the way… the solution is obviously:

H O R N E T

I S

T H E

G R E A T E S T

:stuck_out_tongue:

Or you could just useslashes like MadPlumber was doing such as

__ __ __ /__ __ __ __ __ /__ __

Edit: I was going to say you could just skip extra spaces, but you can’t…lol

lol yep, if you did that, it would just be a line!

Actually I meant more like this:

I tried skipping extra spaces between the words, but when I click submit it just becomes a single line of dashes…lol

oh… well yeah that too.

It doesn’t let you skip spaces.

ACTOR / ROLE / FILM

RT** S**T* / R* **R / R

R, S, T

You did see that someone attempted a guess on the previous page, didn’t you?

The message was edited after my last post, so I didn’t see the guess.

Congratulations to Hornet65! You are our next executioner!

Excellent!!! Let’s start the execution!

Now I have two different ones in mind… either the easy one, or the really long one… let’s do the easy one…

I’m going to follow a similar model to The Mad Plumber…
VOICE ACTOR | ROLE | ANIME

__ __ __ __ __ __ __ – __ __ __ __ __ __ __ / __ __ __ __ __ __ __ / __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __
the – indicates a SPACE and the / indicates the separation between actor, role and show.

My first guess is:
