How old are you guys

My profile is correct, I am 62 yrs old  . I got to see the beginnings of anime in 1971 during a week in Japan. Haven’t missed a year yet! My friends keep asking if I want to borrow some porn so I don’t have to watch cartoons. A lot of them have gotton hooked on Hentai. :woohoo:

I’m over 9000…

Well I’m 39, and it’s interesting to see some older fans on here. I’m still a rather new convert to anime, but in that time I’ve watched a lot, and had a crash course, you could say, on just what anime is.

1971? Anime was well along by then. Of course, being about my age (I’m 60), you might have seen some anime series here in the States but not realized what they were.

I remember watching Gigantor (Tetsujin 28-go), Speed Racer (Mach Go Go Go), and Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor) in my youth (late 1960’s). Astro-boy (Mighty Atom) was a little before my time.

Sheesh, laserdisc and VHS weren’t all that bad.

Gigantor and Astro-boy in glorious black & white in 1965-66 on our vintage 1960 tv. We got a brand spanking new color console tv in 1967, nice to have when it came time to watch Speed Racer.

I’m 54, so I’m a kid compared to Gramps Newshawk.

I did see Gigantor (Tetsujin 28-go)and Astro-boy (Mighty Atom)Didnt hold my interest after 3 eps. I consider them as the unpolished for-runners to anime that I saw in 1971. I never saw Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor)but I enjoyed Speed Racer. I also give that kind of distinction to Betty Boop and the B & W Popeye Toons compared to the later “cartoons” in the US. I still watch the Sat. AM Toon-Fest.
Now dont think I am trying to compare the US Toons to Anime. Dont want to start a war.

You win this thread. lol

<---------46 years I’ve been on this planet and it’s been a Heaven of a ride.

im 14

I turned twenty eight not too long ago. Working out of town on your birthday sucks… :frowning:

Betamax was better than VHS, but no… some government nonsense and they went with the lesser of the two. Reminds me, i need to fire up my 8-track and listen to some Big Bopper. Those never seem to go bad, but cassette tapes just degrade too quickly.

They do Shad, although I still have a couple. I refuse to get rid of them, even though I no longer have the means to listen to them.

I will take this opportunity to relate to everyone that I am 18. However, I have already decided that I will be forever 17. :stuck_out_tongue:

Forever underage…? Why?

It is a joke. :stuck_out_tongue: I heard an older person say it once, and I think it is a good thought to go with. At least I will always have my youth.

Youth is good, no question there. 17 year-olds can’t get home loans though…

I do side with the late George Carlin, I’m currently 54 but there’s still a 17 year old in me. He never went away, neither did the 7 year old, the 27 year old or any of the other ages that I was.

Another good quote to remember :

***“A man is the sum of his memories…” ***
Peter Davidson as “Doctor Who”.

I am 18, turning 19 in a couple of days! I started watching anime when I was about 1. My dad and I watched Saturday morning and night cartoons (Most of them Anime), which consisted of anime’s like Ruroni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, and DBZ

Some people say that I have the mentality of a three year old - so yeah, forever underage!

Thanks for that Iron K!

Now I just need to keep my distance from outlander.
