Everyone has passed the midterms! Zeus is pleased and gives the kids a reward. But how much of a reward is putting on a play – and in three days time? Apollon is the only one sure that they can do it and encourages the others. He also wants to a play of “Cinderella”. I have a feeling this is going to turn into a comedy pretty quickly, especially when Hades thinks that it’s a story about the underworld.
Apollon wants Yui to be Cinderella and he will be her prince. I loved the look on everyone’s face when Apollon tells them that the prince marries Cinderella and brings her to a happy ending. LOL That just makes Balder want to be the prince. And Loki, and Susanoo, and Tsukuyomi, and Hades as well – let the fights begin! LOL
Yui tries to calm everyone down and suggests doing a different play. But no, it must be “Cinderella”. Yui has the boys draw lots for the roles. Each stick contains the name of the role the boy will play. Even Yui will draw, insisting that all the decisions be fair, but the boys protest, wanting her to still be Cinderella. She ignores them and tells them to draw all at the same time. Apollon does get to be the prince, and Yui will be Cinderella.
However, Balder will be the fairy godmother, Susanoo and Tsukuyomi are the evil stepsisters, Dionysos will be Cinderella’s father and Hades will play the king and the prince’s father. Loki ends up being the servant and Thor gets the rest of the smaller roles. Now for the rehearsals. LOL Yui “persuades” Thoth to be the narrator. That was fun, and it seems he really didn’t mind being asked.
Time for the actual play and Zeus himself is in attendance. The curtain rises and my laughter begins in earnest! Thoth turns out to the best narrator ever! This play is a total disaster, but a heck of a lot of fun! LOL Behind the scenes, Anubis gets into the homemade “juice” that Dionysos made to celebrate with after the play. Well, Dionysos isn’t a god of wine for nothing! He ends up chasing down the “juice thief”.
The play continues to go downhill and Loki makes things worse with one of his tricks, declaring a coup d’etat. He intends to put the glass slipper on Cinderella and give her a happy ending. That makes the others on stage think. He who puts the glass slipper on Cinderella’s foot gets to marry her! Free for all coming right up as Yui protests! LOL The juice thief runs onto the stage followed by Dionysos as the rest of the boys scramble to grab the glass slipper. I loved how Thor just stood in the flowerpot being a plant as everyone else went slipping and sliding in the spilled wine, um, juice. Even Thor is eventually knocked over.
All the guys are taken out and Anubis ends up with the shoe. The disinterested boy tosses it at Yui’s feet and leaves the stage. It looks as if a truly bloody battle was fought as the boys lie in puddles of rich red juice. Well, at least that explains the episode’s opening scene. I cannot stop laughing! When Hades wakes up, the first thing he does is put his crown back on his head. Loki asks about the glass slipper and Yui steps forward with it in her hand.
However, she too slips in the juice and the shoe goes flying. It falls to the stage and shatters. Funny that it survived that fight only to end up broken anyway. Unsure of what to do next, Yui looks around uncertainly. It is Thoth that brings the play to a good conclusion, leaving everyone to live happily ever after, and the audience breaks into pleased applause. Yui just gives up and smiles. Zeus seems happy as well.
In the end, everyone had fun and that is what really counts. Apollon brings up a good point of spending time together and laughing every day. But Tsukuyomi bursts the bubble when he mentions that they will be going their separate ways after they graduate and that just throws everyone into the dumps. Yui steps in to say that friends keep in touch, but the group remains disheartened.
Things lighten up a bit when Yui says that they should just have a lot more fun together. Then turn somber once again as Balder looks up at the sky and collapses. Way to ruin the funniest episode ever! But I wonder what happened. Still, this was the best Cinderella ever in the history of school plays! I really needed to laugh like this and I will have to watch it again. Thank you Kamigami!
