Major Player Updates

Got to some more data to collate in my attempt to coerce any one of my computers into doing the same thing:

  • Is anyone experiencing the Jittering in a browser other than IE?

  • Are any Mac users experiencing the video jitterbugging?

  • **Coffee, sbitzer, Newhawk - can you run 2-3 speed tests to let me know what your average down-speed is when it occurs in order to try to make it happen to me. **

Thanks for the continued feedback, guys!
You really are the best set of users… (dramatic pause you could park a Fiat Panda in)… in the world.

Done.
I’m pretty sure it’s not a speed issue (at least with me at 25/3) since it never use to be so prominent in the previous jwplayer incarnation.

A better description of it is, it’s almost like, when your hardware can’t keep up with the stream, where movement in parts is blurred and slow pans frame stutter.

Except, in this case, it wasn’t present in the previous software version and I know very well that my hardware can very easily keep up.

But here’s three tests in a row anyways.

Thanks, Coffee!

I don’t think it’s a speed issue- I’m just trying to get collate variables to use in trying to get one of my four systems to show me the jitters. It’s easier to debug something when we can see it for ourselves.

I’m not sure if this would matter, but would the version of flash player make any difference for using the JW Player? I just updated my flash player and Java for Pogo games last week when they updated their software, so I’m up to date.
Slick

Having you Flash plugins up to date is always best when doing any kind of multimedia streaming.

I always wondered why JW Player played well for me on some sites, but sucked on others. Coffee God has a faster internet and has a top of the line desktop, yet he has problems. I have 16mbps/4,5mbps and a middle of the road laptop, and the player is smooth as silk and looks great.

You and me both, brother!

Yo, here’s a Mac user that’s having the jitter problems. MacBook Pro 2.26GHz, OSX 10.6.6, 2GB RAM, using FireFox. Seems to only happen when I’m using the HD stream, the SD one works fine.

I occasionally had issues with jittering on the old player, but I always assumed it was due to the fact that my PowerBook was 6 years old at least. I got a new MacBook Pro back in December and everything runs crystal clear now, even in full screen HD.

Tried out the online player with my new system and it plays perfectly.
