Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion release for Jan.

posted on 2012-09-28 18:40 EDT

Sentai Filmworks also revealed the details for its other January releases at the panel. The company will release Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion on Blu-ray Disc and DVD, and the release will include the theatrical edition and the director’s cut edition. The company will also release Bodacious Space Pirates on Blu-ray Disc and DVD with an English dub. Additionally, the company will release Saiyuki Gaiden on DVD in January, and the release will include an English dub with the original ADV Films dub cast.

Nice to see. I wish these things could have come out faster than once a year but whatevs. I enjoyed the first one, its failings were more than made up for by the hilarity and the classic dub in my book.

Will all the films get a release state side? also how many are there in this set?

glad to see the second film will make it!

love the many pick ups by this company!

so much good anime!

There are three planned films in the series. All three have been licensed by Sentai and should see release in the US. However, the third has not been released in Japan yet, so it will be a little while before we have it here.

The Second Combustion cover art.

Tragic.

I would have preferred the disc and back cover art to be on the front.

The brightly colored, classless, side-boob aquatic scene doesn’t say “dark scifi series with a semblance of a plot”, it says “crappy dime-a-dozen no-effort fanservice show”.

What’s up with this? The art on the first movie’s cover was fanservicey (and classier) while still being dark. Are they trying to market it to a different audience than the first?

Darn. Neither of the Brothers Ayres made it back in this one? Sad face :frowning:

On the plus side, this’ll be something to get Janice Williams to sign at the Sentai booth.

Lastly, do my eyes deceive me; is that really Nabeshin (Brett Weaver) furthering his return to anime voicing by being in this film? Very nice.

For anyone who got the DVD/Blu-ray already, how much would I miss if I were to watch the second film before the first one?

I have a lot of catching up to do here…

I don’t have the BD of the second movie (though I did watch it on ANO), however, to answer your question, you would be doing yourself a huge disservice for neglecting the first movie.

I would also definitely not recommend doing that, as you would be incredibly lost.

Just reading Rai’s announcement on Friday was enough to tell me that I need to watch the first movie before the second.

I guess this means we’ll probably see the third movie some time around March or so.

3rd Mardock Scramble Film Blu-ray Slated for September in Japan

posted on 2013-07-06 21:15 EDT

The official website for the Mardock Scramble anime announced that the third film, Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust, will ship on Blu-ray Disc with English subtitles on September 25.

The Blu-Ray will sell for 8,925 yen (about $89) and include the complete and theatrical editions of the film, a 42-page booklet, and a 56-page miniaturized theatrical pamphlet.

The film is the final part in a film trilogy based on novels by Tow Ubukata. Sentai Filmworks licensed the trilogy for North American release with English dubbing and subtitles. Viz Media publishes the novel series in one volume in North America.

Interesting.

Though I enjoyed Rune Balot more in Horizon.

The Third Exhaust cover art has been posted.

Looks as though they kept the proposed artwork for this one. A much better choice than the unfortunate art on the previous movie.

I still haven’t finished the second movie. I hate to say it but maybe I should try it subbed and see if that changes anything, though the scenes reminiscent of the kanye west episode of South Park will still be there.

Any updates about the state of these movies? The contract supposedly expired at the beginning of June…
