Well, they did take down the cover art for Daphne in the Brilliant Blue and it was a bit “less sexy” than this. Hopefully it will be up for a few days before someone reports it though…lol
A very fun series, well worth watching. The cats in the series are hilarious. Also has a bunch of fun characters. A very good grab. Was supposed to be a second season but not sure what happened to that.
DVD is shipping from Rightstuf. Must have came in yesterday as it was still listed as on order last update. Then this morning it was shipped . Also a Date for the Online Player has been set 12/9/10.
I am really enjoying this series, but I think this is my favorite episode so far.
Episode 10 –
spoiler
After failing her exam, the twins are asked to help Sumiyoshi with her report on local history, but everyone else goes with her as well and Jyunpei finds out that Akari can sense spirits while Kotone has “other” talents.
*
Later on a walking tour around town, Kotone shows everyone the seven mysteries. But when they come to a large cat statue, Jyunpei sees how it affects Akari. Kaede is afraid too and I wonder if she is also sensitive to spirits. The others make fun of the statue and Sumiyoshi begins to draw whiskers on it but Akari stops her and performs a brief ritual after cleaning off the cat’s face.
*
Back home Jyunpei tries to fit the pieces together and remembers that they said they could use counter-magic. Curious, he decides to go out and investigate. His mother and sister really crack me up! They always show up and say just the right thing which is usually very wrong.
*
So, Kotone is a magical girl! This made me laugh. And Akari is some kind of warrior priestess. So this is why they don’t have friends and the reason they’ve been alone. Funny that Jyunpei thinks he’s dreaming but chases after the girls anyway. It turns out that the spirit the girls are fighting resides in that big cat statue that doesn’t like being scribbled on. The fight was half exciting and half funny. Akari gets her energy from eating pocky and the scene where Jyunpei tried to give her some was hysterical. With Kotone hanging on to him, he had no free hands, so he had to feed the pocky to the very weak Akari by mouth. It almost looked like a kiss and Kotone looked a little a little jealous.

But the spirit is defeated and Jyunpei is asked to keep their secret. He agrees but even when he is being nice, he still gets called a pervert. However, I think this is the way Akari reacts to him because she still hasn’t quite figured out her feelings for him yet. Jyunpei gives Akari the hair clips that Sumiyoshi bought her as a thank you for helping her with the report and when she wears them the following day, she receives some compliments from her classmates and if looks as if they’d like to be friends as well. This was a really fun episode!
Also really liked this episode. Akari has never been very social, so helping with the report forced her out of her comfort zone. I don’t think she had ever also received a gift of thanks like that before either. The end at the cafeteria she may now be able to make friends.
I think so too. The cat did tell Jyunpei that she never really had any friends because of her gift and the cat wanted Jyunpei to be her friend. But I think he would have anyway. He seems to care about her and I think that is helping her to come out of her shell with regards to the others. The group is already treating her like a friend, so I think that helped to open the door for Akari to talk to her classmates.
I liked how Jyunpei finally turned into a cat but was able to turn back. But my favorite characters were the twins. I would have liked to see more of them and their double lives!
Wow. I’d forgotten about this show (I saw Funi’s “version”…) but luckily y’all hadn’t as it would seem that enough people watched it to get it dubbed and on bluray. I’d add Kurenai & Detroit Metal City to your list lol.
I’m still shocked that Golgo 13 is apparently getting a blu-ray, per the language used in the ANN article.
