The January issue of Shogakukan’s Corocoro Comic magazine is announcing on Saturday that the next Pokémon film is titled Pocket Monster XY: Hakai no Mayu (Pokémon XY: Cocoon of Destruction) and is slated for July 19, 2014. According to the magazine and teaser, the first Pokémon XY film will feature Mega Evolution just like the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y 3DS games. The Legendary Pokémon Xerneas is spotted standing in a forest along with another Legendary Pokémon, Yvetal. Director Kunihiko Yuyama is returning to adapt Satoshi Tajiri’s Pokémon games as he has done for most of the films in the franchise. The film will run with the “Pikachu, Kore Nanno Kagi?” (Pikachu, What’s This Key For?) short.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y shipped for the Nintendo 3DS worldwide on October 12. The Pokémon XY (Pokémon the Series: XY) anime series tie-in premiered on October 17 in Japan. Cartoon Network then showed two episodes from Pokémon the Series: XY in the United States on October 19, right after the American premiere of this year’s Pokémon film, Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened (Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Shinsoku no Genosekuto: Myuutsū Kakusei).
