In negotiations for new Rurouni Kenshin anime, Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW BD

The North American anime distributor Aniplex of America confirmed at its Otakon panel on Friday that it will dub the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime series into English. Aniplex of America added that it is in “negotiations” for the new Rurouni Kenshin anime project and a Blu-ray Disc release of the anime film Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW.
Awesome that’s getting a Dub, since that will appeal to a broader audience.
Sounds like it’s going to come at a heavy price, but still nice to have a bit more detail.

That was such a random announcement, if I recall right he answered, “Since you asked so nicely yes, it’s getting a dub”
Why announce that in a Q&A, I just don’t get it.
Awakami Iwata, the producer was really cool all weekend by the way.
Probably planned to announce it at the end of Q&A. A couple other companies seem to be doing the same thing lately; NISA at AX with Dororon Enma-kun (or was it kimi ni todoke?) comes to mind.

Yeah I’m really wondering about the price and if it’s going to be split into parts like Durarara!! or if it will be a complete set. I’m guessing price wise if its a set it should be around a $100.00 if DVD if they got Blu-ray I’m thinking between $150.00 to $250.00. DVD parts should probably go in the price along the lines of Durarara!!'s.
I think they are still zoning in on pricing that’s more along the lines of what they can charge from the people they are aiming these series at. Blue Exorcist and Oreimo’s pre-order pricing are reasonable in my opinion. Retail price kind of iffy, but they have given a pretty good amount of time to get money together for those that want it for the pre-order price.

1-foot tall balloon immediately rises back up each time it is knocked down
On the opposite end of the weight spectrum from the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Production Note archive book set, the character and cosplay goods maker Cospa is offering a Punching Kyubey balloon in early October.
The balloon has an illustration of Kyubey on the front, and a message that says “contract with me!!” The punching balloon, which is filled with air, will immediately rise back up no matter how many time the owner knocks it down. It measures 20 centimeters (8 inches) wide and 30 centimeters (12 inches) tall, and costs 2,310 yen (about US$30).
Other Puella Magi Madoka merchandise has included a beach set with a pool and swim tube, a Homura Akemi hugging pillow cover, and a shape-shifting Charlotte the Dessert Witch plush.

Gen Urobuchi Pulls Street Fighter’s Shoryuken at Madoka Magica Café
Puella Magi Madoka Magica scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi posted a message on his Twitter account on Monday that included a picture of himself punching the plot-twist form of the Madoka Magica character Charlotte the Dessert Witch (pictured at right). Urobuchi wrote in the Twitter post he was performing the “Shoryuken” fighting move from the Street Fighter video game franchise. Urobuchi also wrote in the post that Charlotte “has no chance at succeeding.”
The picture of Urobuchi was taken at the limited-time Madoka Magica Café revamp of the Good Smile Café in the city of Matsudo in Chiba Prefecture, which opened on May 3. The café was originally scheduled to last until July 18, but Good Smile Company has extended the café until August 14. The café has been serving a dessert in the shape of Charlotte, along with a Kyubey curry plate. Urobuchi also posted a picture of the Kyubey curry plate from his visit to the café, which accompanied a post stating “My heart’s desire has come true!”
I added this to the first post as well, but here’s the Official US Madoka trailer that was shown on the live AniplexUS NicoNico panel the other day.
I wasn’t going to post this since it’s an unofficial game, but I just watched the YT vids, and damn, it actually looks pretty awesome!
I want it! -though I’d probably never play it-

Gen Urobuchi discusses origin, themes of recent TV anime

In an interview in the Tuesday morning edition of the Asahi Shimbun paper, Puella Magi Madoka Magica writer Gen Urobuchi compared the plot of the Madoka Magica anime to the real-life terrorist network Al-Qaeda. The interview in the newspaper’s Culture section begins with the following two questions, which contain spoilers for the anime series.
Spoiler (highlight the following white text to read)
Asahi: Madoka Magica is an original story. Where did the idea come from?
*
Urobuchi: I received a request to write a bloody story where magical girls appear, and then drop out one by one. I paid attention to the aspects that are troubling or overlooked in the traditional magical girl genre. I’ve been thinking that magical girls who have acquired superhuman abilities will find themselves removed from the world, which would cause contradictions and reactions.
*
Asahi: Magical girls, who are full of hope and who strive to save the people, soon suffer from hatred and jealousy, which turn them into the enemy witches. The change from good to evil left an emotional impact.
*
Urobuchi: For example, Al-Qaeda brought down the Twin Towers due to their self-righteousness. Justice for some people is an evil for others. Good intentions, kindness, and hope will not necessarily make people happy.
A nice little interview with Atsuhiro Iwakami.
Though it does contain spoilers for the series (marked as “
” in front of spoilers).
So read with caution

2nd pre-order round to ship in October, but will still have 1st-printing extras

The store chains Toranoana and Gamers have begun accepting the second round of pre-orders for the two-volume Puella Magi Madoka Magica Production Note archive book set. However, unlike the first round of general pre-orders which are scheduled to ship on September 30, the second round are slated for around October 20. Gamers reports the second round of pre-orders will still include the limited first-printing bonus extras.
In collaboration with graphics designer Milky Isobe, the anime studio SHAFT itself compiled and edited the 352 pages of production materials and 144 pages of art by the design team Gekidan Inu Curry from the popular television anime. Gen Urobuchi tells cast that he is working on what is next after series finale

In the audio commentary that ran during the final episode’s ending credits on the sixth Puella Magi Madoka Magica Blu-ray/DVD volume, writer Gen Urobuchi discussed his thoughts for the story afterwards with the cast:
Urobuchi: I haven’t been working in animation very long, but they let me do the project the way I wanted, so I really enjoyed it … So, to give my gratitude to everyone on staff for letting me do as I please, I’m doing my best on what’s next.
Cast: A second season? A second season?
Cast: Madoka’s …
Cast: No, no …
Urobuchi: I think I can announce it someday, but I’m trying hard to squeeze the ideas out of my mind. I’m doing my best.
Cast: It’s got to be a different ending, such as a parallel world from this one, right? It’ll have to be … I guess. Is it possible that we can see such a world? I’m looking forward to it.
Urobuchi: Well, I feel it hasn’t ended here, not yet.
In a magazine interview published in March, director Akiyuki Shinbo revealed that he wanted to do a “Madoka 2” project as a side story to the anime series. He added that if he can, he would like to do a second season or a side story of their characters’ daily lives.
The anime ended in Japan on April 21 after being pre-empted out of “self-restraint” in the aftermath of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster. Aniplex of America will be releasing the anime in English.
