Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- / Rokka no Yusha

Contest: Design Your Own Brave

Generally not when they’re that low. Though Justin Sevakis did mention (don’t remember if it was an Answerman article, or one of the industry articles) awhile ago, that most series do eventually break even a few years down the line.

Also, in this case, the usual bump in LN sales hasn’t been anywhere near as good for this series as it usually is for adaptions.

Press Release: Pony Canyon to Release Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- This Winter

September 27, 2015

I’d like to think myself as a “fair kind of guy”, someone who gives ‘second chances’…hur, hur, hur… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Now that the whole show’s out, I can binge and see if it’s worth my dead prezez.

Maybe after Rick & Morty tonight…

Show is definitely better with all eps on hand. Maybe by now Crunchy has gone back and standardized the names in the subs too lol.

I wonder what PC will base dubbing off of. I’d like to think that they won’t base it off of the Japanese disc sales lol.

One would assume, since this is an R1 release, it would be based on streaming performance along with how much buzz it generated during it’s run.

Which isn’t good news for me as I was a johnny-come-lately to the series who didn’t get involved with generating the hype lol.

ANN says it finished in 10th place according to their very cluttered chart so maybe that’s good enough. Though TBH part of me wants PC to give me an excuse to not support as I’m torn between wanting to support the series but really not wanting to support PonyCanyon’s US venture.

Those charts are really something, I get a brain-hurt every time I look at them.

Should We Care About Rokka’s Traitor? - IGN Anime Club

I dunno about the criticism of the show in that video as it wasn’t really “here are 7 people you don’t know, one of them is a liar, but why do I care?” but rather “here are 7 people, one is a liar, but the one person that you the viewer know isn’t the liar is being framed as the liar”.

Press Release: PONY CANYON Announces Upcoming Winter Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers- BD & DVD Release Details

Oct 10th 2015

Sorry PonyCan, $18 / episode doesn’t cut it, when Aniplex is averaging between $10-15 depending on the title, and offers as good or better extras than you do.

So no dub after all? Well, that sucks, but I wasn’t holding my breath expecting PonyCan to do the US fans a solid. Would have been nice if they’d exceeded expectation though.

Is this another one of those awkwardly large boxes?

I’d much rather have a dub than some artificially scarce sketches. I guess I’m not PonyCan USA’s target audience then lol.

Yeah, they’re still using the DODEKA cases for their Collector’s sets.

However, a nice thing that they’re doing with Rokka is, they’re actually issuing RE BD & DVD sets as well (though they’re still way too expensive for my tastes).

1st of 3-volume release ships on DVD, BD with available collector’s edition on December 10

As I said in the two days later ANN thread, It’s a nice effort but it only gets the “Orson Welles’ Slow Applause” award.

They still aren’t participating in the North American market.

that clap could be a little slower. maybe something like this

or an ironic clap

either way, i’ll watch it on CR before I decide to buy, but going from the first two eps…probably not.

I hate to say it, as it was the best show of Summer 2015 IMO (though I didn’t see 'em all), but I’m thinking it’s probably best not to buy it. I suppose the only conclusion I can make is that I’m just never going to be a PonyCan customer as they actually have a product that I want to buy and they’ve made me not want to buy it

BTW, what’s the second pic of?

(Come to think, the only reason I’ve actually seen Orson Welles is because of that meme. I’m not sure I’ve heard him in anything besides Magnum, PI reruns either lol. )

Actually, for me, the best show was Gatchaman Crowds: Insight

Rokka broke the unwritten rule of bad writing at the end there.

Wouldn’t breaking the unwritten rule of bad writing mean that it was good? I know that’s not what you’re getting at but I had a total “turn up the AC” moment when reading that.

What is the unwritten rule anyhow?
