SENTAI FILMWORKS LICENSES “BLADE & SOUL”
HOUSTON, May 1, 2014– The path towards vengeance will be riddled with babes, blades and bullets in Sentai Filmworks’ latest acquisition, Blade & Soul. Adapted from the NCSoft MMORPG Blade & Soul, this high flying action series is co-directed by Hiroshi Takeuchi (The Big O, Bodacious Space Pirates) and Hiroshi Hamasaki (Steins;Gate, Ironman: Rise of Technovore), with original character designs by world renowned Korean manwha artist Hyung-tae Kim, art direction by Ken’ichi Tatefuji (Squid Girl, Supernatural: The Anime Series) and animation production by Gonzo (LASTEXILE, Strike Witches).
In a world where stunning beauty is menaced by evil, the up-and-coming Wind Empire struggles to defeat the empire of old and unite all races together in the dawning of a new age. Enter: Alka, a buxom, scantily-clad assassin looking to exact revenge for the death of her teacher, Hong. She’s on the hunt for his killer, Jin Varrel, a demonic dame that kills without remorse. Nevertheless, they are a part of the same “Blade Clan,” and Alka feels conflicted and sympathetic, as they are essentially one-in-the-same. While on her valiant quest for vengeance, Alka comes across a peculiar trio of winsome warriors: Hazuki, Karen, and Roana, each possessing a unique set of assets of her own. Will they help Alka in her conquest… or do they have their own plan in mind? Adapted from the popular videogame with visual elements based on the work by distinguished manwha-style artist, Hyung-Tae Kim, this series combines martial arts-inspired combat and Qing Gong action for a thrill ride like no other. Stay tuned as two sides of the same coin go head-to-head in a world where fantasy and adventure are busting at the seams in BLADE & SOUL!
Blade & Soul will be available soon through select digital outlets with a home video release to follow.
