Doesn’t matter who posts what, as long as it’s from a different source, it’s still news.

I’ll keep that in mind.

Transformations of 5 main magical girls in Momoiro Clover Z’s “Moon Pride” video

The music video for “Moon Pride,” Momoiro Clover Z’s opening theme song for the ongoing Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal anime, began streaming online on Saturday, after the anime’s second episode debuted. The video features previously unseen animated footage — in particular, clips from the transformation sequences of the five main magical girls:

Until now, the Sailor Moon Crystal anime has only shown the transformation sequences of Sailor Moon herself and Sailor Mercury, although Sailor Mars’ transformation was teased in the preview for the next episode in August. Munehisa Sakai, the director of the anime series, supervised this music video at Toei Animation.

The combined single for “Moon Pride” and the anime’s ending theme “Gekkō” will ship in two CD versions in Japan on July 30. The “Sailor Moon Edition” will feature the five guardians on the cover and include a bonus music video Blu-Ray Disc. The Momo-Clo edition (pictured below) will contain a cover of “Moon Revenge” performed by Momoiro Clover Z and features them on the CD cover. Both editions will include the karaoke versions of their songs.

The Sailor Moon edition will retail for 1,851 yen (about US$18), while the Momoiro Clover Z cosplay version will retail for 1,234 yen (about $12).

Momoiro Clover Z announced they would perform the opening and ending themes for Sailor Moon Crystal in July 2012. “Gekkō” was composed by Akiko Kosaka, who composed “Moon Revenge,” “Sailor Team’s Theme” and “Tuxedo Mirage” for the original Sailor Moon. “Moon Pride” was composed by Revo (Linked Horizon/Sound Horizon), who composed “Guren no Yumiya” for Attack on Titan.

Sailor Moon Crystal premiered on Niconico, Crunchyroll, Hulu and Neon Alley on July 5.

And the proof of stupidity is in the pudding. Usagi has beesting bottox lips to show off the make-up because she is nothing but a Japanese Barbie doll, Ami too has it. Being the modern day you would think a show about make-up would allow males to wear it also, but sexism abounds and males are not allowed to wear make-up.

Normal lips that would have worked for every character. You can tell where the mouth is, and when it opens. Beryl of course has her excessive red lipstick on because she is EVIL and supposed to look slutty. (The opposite of Sailor Moon). But al the middle school girls look jsut like her with a different shade of lipstick on the mouths.

Inconsisten design is what is destroying this new take ont he show. Really does look like someone wanting to sale Sailor Moon Monster High/Brats/Ever After dolls, than trying to present a decent show. The old one easily has all character designs following the same pattern that, other than the nahou shojou transformation sequences; aren’t sexism in character design. Same mouths, doe-eyes for girls since the “other round parts” of the female anatomy isn’t present in the sailor scouts and happily undefined for the most part, and the smaller eyes for makes.

It is like they have two different teams making two different shows. The only combination of animation I have ever seen worse than this is DragonLance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight, where Tanis and the rest were in Heavy Metal style 80s cell-shading, and the dragons themselves were horribly combined CG animations. (Nothing like the meld of CG and cell-shading in IGPX, Girls und Panzer, etc)

After episode 2, I may just drop this quicker than that Super Milk Chan and Crayon Shin Chan garbage.

IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!

As is normally the case with these CA dubs, the best performances come from those who have done extensive dubbing in TX. Sadly though, Todd Haberkorn was below his potential in this clip. Bad memories of the SAO dub are coming back.

As for that Queen Beryl performance, if ever a dub should require someone to sound bored, emotionless and distracted then I think that I know just the actress for the job.

This dub is shaping up to be just short of an unintentional parody. It pains me to say it but this is a bilingual release that should come with Japanese as the default audio track.

I don’t know. Beryl sounds like one of those annoying monotones from 90s video games where you have the talking head giving you mission details for some mech game. Just add in some synth and vibrato.

Drop it like it’s hot and run; save yourself! It’s not as though this is one of those releases with streaming numbers “on the fence” for getting an eventual NA release. IMO it is getting one of those whether we want it or not lol.

The SScouts don’t look slutty? SM was, and is, sexualizing middle schoolers. Beryl might actually be more respectably dressed as she isn’t wearing a skirt that she doesn’t sit on when she sits down, to borrow from an old phrase.

Naoko Takeuchi, Akiko Kosaka collaborate “Gekkō,” 20 years after "Tuxedo Mirage"

The producers of the Sailor Moon Crystal anime confirmed on Saturday that original manga creator Naoko Takeuchi personally wrote the lyrics for “Gekkō,” the anime’s ending theme song. The idol group Momoiro Clover Z performs the song, and its lyrics are officially credited to “Shirobara sumire.” However, that name is actually the pennname for Takeuchi.

“Gekkō” was composed by Akiko Kosaka, who composed “Moon Revenge,” “Sailor Team’s Theme” and “Tuxedo Mirage” for the original Sailor Moon. It has been about two decades since Kosaka and Takeuchi collaborated on writing the music and lyrics, respectively, for “Tuxedo Mirage.”

The combined single for the anime’s opening theme “Moon Pride” and “Gekkō” shipped in two CD versions in Japan on July 30. The “Sailor Moon Edition” features the five guardians on the cover and include a bonus music video Blu-Ray Disc. The Momo-Clo edition (pictured below) contains a cover of “Moon Revenge” performed by Momoiro Clover Z and features them on the CD cover. Both editions include the karaoke versions of their songs.

The Sailor Moon edition retails for 1,851 yen (about US$18), while the Momoiro Clover Z cosplay version retails for 1,234 yen (about $12). The songs also debuted on iTunes Music Stores in 120 countries simultaneously at midnight local time on Wednesday.

Momoiro Clover Z announced they would perform the opening and ending themes for Sailor Moon Crystal in July 2012.

Ep 3

Mars’s full transformation sequence is not to be missed, It’s the best one so far. The Fire, it brings it.

I have to say, with the every other week schedule, this is not a good show for Sailor Moon newbies.

Images of Sailor Moon Crystal Japanese BD Extras Revealed

A sneak peek at the first Sailor Moon Crystal Japanese Limited Edition BD has been revealed, which is good timing for all the fans who have been on the fence about importing it.

Each volume will come with a special charm, with the first volume also containing a charm bracelet. It will also contain a special booklet, special packaging, storyboards, and a music box that plays “Moon Pride,” the opening theme song by Momoiro Clover Z.

.

.

Perhaps the most notable is the reveal of the special box, which unfortunately will only be available to Japanese residents with mail-in vouchers included in each limited edition BD. If deep-pocketed fans can get a hold of one, though, it’s certainly a conversation piece. The box not only stores all of the discs, but it also functions as a trinket box.

Of course, collecting all of the limited edition BDs won’t be cheap—each volume retails for 6,500 yen (about US$62), with the first volume costing 7,500 yen (about US$71.50). Each one only includes two episodes, which means collecting the whole series will run over $800, not including the overseas shipping. Those who would rather just import the regular edition BD or DVDs will have an easier time—each BD retails for 4,500 yen (about US$42.90), and each DVD retails for 3,500 yen (about US$33.38).

For those who live in Japan, different retailers are offering different bonuses, including bromide cards, clear posters, clear files, post cards, straps, tapestries, and more.

The first volume is scheduled to be released on October 15, with subsequent volumes released every month after that.

all those ‘extras’ and not even a bottle of what really matters:

Deluxe edition will come with music box, charms, booklet

The official Sailor Moon YouTube channel began streaming a “digest” video of the first two episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal for the upcoming release of the first deluxe edition Blu-ray disc. The Blu-ray is slated to release on October 15 and will retail for 7,500 yen (about US$70).

The Blu-ray will include the first two episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal, clean versions of the opening and ending themes, audio commentary from voice actors Kotono Mitsuishi (Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon) and Kenji Nojima (Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask), director Munehisa Sakai, and supervisor Fumio Osano for the two episodes. Momoiro Clover Z, who performed both the opening and ending theme for the show, and Munehisa Sakai will have their own separate audio commentary, but only for the first episode.

The deluxe edition will come packaged in a music box (which plays the opening theme song “Moon Pride”), and also contain a 28-page booklet, opening and ending storyboards, two charms from Bandai, and an application ticket to receive a box with a drawer that will fit all planned volumes of the Sailor Moon Crystal anime on Blu-ray. Retailer-specific “jacket covers” will also be available at five different stores, each with a different Guardian.

Sailor Moon Crystal premiered on Niconico, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Neon Alley on July 5.

Chinese Voice Actress Lives Her Dream As Usagi’s Little Brother
posted on 2014-09-15 21:00 EDT

While plenty of manga and anime series feature stories of protagonists trying to achieve their dreams, Chinese voice actress Seira Ryū is living hers. Ever since she watched Neon Genesis Evangelion, she dreamed of becoming a voice actress, saying that the characters felt like they were “actually alive.”

Despite not knowing Japanese at the time, the dream took hold, and she studied Japanese at Beijing Foreign Studies University, then moved to Japan to study at a vocational school for those seeking to enter the animation industry.

While competition is stiff, especially for non-foreign character roles, Ryū has achieved some success, voicing small parts here and there, and recently landing a gig in Sailor Moon Crystal as Shingo Tsukino, Usagi’s younger brother.

While Ryū’s story is only one of many of foreigners achieving success in Japan, it’s an uplifting reminder to never stop reaching for the things you want. As for her goals, she told the Yomiuri Shimbum, “I want to move people’s hearts with my voice.”

Hopefully she has none of that annoying “baby talk” form of speech that the Japanese stereotypically ascribe to Chinese speakers of Japanese.

Sadly the stereotype has been so prevalent that I realize that I rather expect her to sound like, oh, Kuradoberi Jam of Guilty Gear :frowning:
