But into this untamed and testosterone-filled wilderness comes a girl on a mission; a girl who’s not afraid of any male and is willing to take them on in that most deadly of all arenas: the Student Council! As Seika’s first ever female president, Misaki Ayuzawa talks the talk and walks the walk, but after school hours she morphs into something rather different… a waitress at a maid café! So when cool, aloof and handsome Usui Takumi discovers Misaki’s secret, things are going to get VERY interesting, very quickly! SYNOPSIS: Whether it’s pursuing suspects on in-line skates while wearing bikinis, confronting rogue wrestlers, rescuing orphans from the yakuza, or even handling giant snakes, there’s no job that’s too hard or too strange for the bold female officers of the Bokuto Police Station to take on! But even though the thin and shapely blue line of our favorite police officers is once again back in action, not everything’s the same: Miyuki’s been in the U.S., studying American police techniques while Natsumi’s been serving in the military! Are the streets of Japan really ready to handle THAT kind of knowledge as dispensed by the minds of THAT particular pair of highly unorthodox defenders of law and order? Let’s just say that Law will probably come out okay, but Order’s going to take a severe bruising in the process. There are plenty of handcuffs, fisticuffs, high speed chases and even giant mushroom costumes ahead in the ultimate complete collection of YOU’RE UNDER ARREST: FULL THROTTLE!

This is the first time in recent memory that Sentai hasn’t unveiled a new license with it’s solicitations, though three new series do bow. I was sort of hoping that Maid-sama might get dubbed as the guys in Houston could have done great things with it, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Anyway, I will be grabbing both Daimao and High School of The Dead on Bluray, as well as Maid-Sama. I will likely grab YUA season 3 as well, since I never got the half sets.

Between these and Utena, June is going to be an awesome and expensive month!

#8

Also I don’t remember anyone saying DEMON KING DAIMAO was going to get dubed.

Very true. Maybe it will sell better than expected, or Siren or Manga may pick it up as well.

From what I’m getting from this it sounds like the deciding factor in this was they wanted to dub two things ,but Maid Sama was probably decided against because of the length. While 26 episodes are not that bad in the end it’s easier to dub two 13 episode series and make a profit then risk dubbing one 26 episode series. Plus seems like the people in charge have been sniffing some of Media Blasters fanservice glue again. Funimation even seems to have gotten into it.lol

From what I’ve seen, ADV has always had kind of a soft spot for fanservicey type stuff, so it probably carried over. Though, I have to admit, a lot of Sentai’s picks as of late have been pretty fanservice heavy.

As for me, I’m definitely getting HotD, no ‘ifs, ands, or buts’ about it!
I enjoyed DKD for what it was, but I don’t think I enjoyed it enough to get it, even dubbed, but I’ll probably make the true call on that if/when it pops up on VOD/online.
Maid Sama I might add to my list, but there’s several others I want first.

I am rather sad the third Hidamari Sketch hasn’t popped up yet on the solicitations, though I guess there’s still the last 6 months of the year yet, so I’m still hopeful.

I’d say all of the R1’s had/have a soft spot for fanservicey shows (well, maybe except for Bandai and Nozomi - can’t think of anything at the moment). Don’t forget, ‘fanservice’ comes in many shapes and sizes - from mild to extreme, from harem shows all the way up to action. You just can’t escape it, the animators will find a way to add it into the show, it helps them sell merch.
