Anime Network is the only major asset of Valkyrie Media Partners. As with anything related to the late, lamented A.D.V., Valkyrie Media Partners is owned by Matt Greenfield and Janice Williams, who just so happen to be major participants/officers in Section 23 and Seraphim Studios. It’s all interlocking.
I just reread the article and Anime Network appears to be part of the deal. Kinda confusing that there’s two companies named Sentai, and the one that was bought, according to the article, owns Anime Network (which means they own Valkyrie Media Partners)
I kinda want to see the tree of ownership for Sentai related stuff to see who was not included in the PR but was bought by AMC.
I’m pretty certain they bought all of Sentai Holdings LLC. Which should be everything that was under Section23. Which should be all the companies. The only one I’m not 100% of is Maiden Japan as there was some weird stuff going on with the website and the listing of the copyright on there at one point.
It sounds like from the article (which I might be reading to much into) AMC plans to eventually add Hidive to the AMC+ package ,but will let the Disc based parts of the company still do what they are currently doing. I’m also thinking Sentai licensed Movies may start getting runs in AMC theaters. Mind you until we get some more concrete this is all speculative on my part.
AMC Networks has no relationship at all to the AMC theater chain.
Also, even though AMC Networks has AMC+, the individual services: Acorn TV, Allblk, AMC, BBC America, IFC, Shudder, Sundance NOW, and WE TV all have their own straming apps separate of AMC+. I doubt HIDIVE will go anywhere for a good long time.
I think he means because Sentai Filmworks is under Sentai Holdings. I thought originally it was all under Section23 ,but Section23 is under Sentai Holdings. That whole thing was very confusing to start with though. From what I sort of understood they were all supposed to be separate entities from a legal standpoint ,but at the same time one company. Like I said confusing.
