Fate/Zero, Ghost in the Shell actor joins cast for remake anime’s 4th installment

The staff of the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 television anime series and film project announced on Wednesday that voice actor Akio Ohtsuka will play General Domel (General Lysis in Space Battleship Yamato’s American adaptation Star Blazers) in the fourth installment of the series.

Ohtsuka’s numerous anime voice roles include Fate/Zero’s Rider, Ghost in the Shell’s Batou, One Piece’s Blackbeard, Bleach’s Kyouraku Shunsui, and Black Jack’s title character. He is also known for voicing video game franchise characters such as Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts and Solid Snake in Metal Gear.

Ohtsuka will be replacing the late voice actor Osamu Kobayashi in the role of General Domel. Kouichi Yamadera is playing Lord Dessler, head of the Gamilus people and General Domel’s leader, in Space Battleship Yamato 2199.

The third film, titled Hateshinaki Kōkai (Endless Voyage), will open in 10 theaters in Japan from October 13 to October 26. The film is composed of episodes 7 through 10 of this Space Battleship Yamato remake. The story will deal with contact with the Galamus (Gamilon) enemy and offer an original story that delves into areas that the first Space Battleship Yamato anime did not explore. Toshihiro Kawamoto revealed at the AM2 convention this month that he worked as an animation director on episode 10.

Release details for the project’s fourth installment have not been announced.

Wow, that preview confirmed my suspicion that the Captured Gamilas pilot episode would be an Akira Yamamoto focused episode. Interesting in that Kodai was the focus of that episode in the original.

31 people to cover Isao Sasaki’s classic opening theme for April broadcast

So…is this opening going to be performed by these 31 people in a choir, or will there be a new person singing the same song each episode? Either I think would be cool.

Now that it’s being broadcast on TV in Japan, only thing I want to here is either Streaming or NA Home Video release (Preferably both)
