Just a heads up on this from the Our Star Blazers / Cosmo DNA Facebook page:
Our Star Blazers.com/Cosmo DNA Community
News from Comicon: August Ragone and I (along with several 100 others) took in the dub of Yamato 2199 Episode 1 today (put on by dub studio Bang Zoom) and found it to be pretty OK. Not outstanding, but certainly passable. There are a couple odd pronunciation choices (oKEEta and GaMEElus) and an occasional term that goes bump, such as meteor bomb instead of planet bomb, but nothing on the level of “Argo.” They also showed both of the promo videos from starblazers.com.
We got a chance to speak with a rep from Bang Zoom afterward and found out (A) there is no distribution deal in place yet and (B) only the first two episodes have been dubbed. They need a production partner in place before continuing. So at the moment, this seems to be as far as it goes.
The really good news is that this rep is very interested in continuing to communicate with me, and since the Bang Zoom studio is only 5 minutes from my home that should work out pretty well. So if anyone was feeling anxiety over this in any way, I think you can stand down for the time being.
Not much Yamato presence here other than that. A few model kits on display at a Bandai booth (none for sale) and some bootleg DVDs, which turn up every year.
Chapter 7: Soshite Kan wa Iku to premiere August 24; DVD/BDs to ship in fall
Film distributor Shochiku began streaming a television commercial for the seventh and final Space Battleship Yamato 2199 film on Friday. The video reveals the conclusion’s title as Soshite Kan wa Iku (And Now the Warship Comes).
Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Chapter 7: Soshite Kan wa Iku will compile episodes 23 through 26 of the TV series remake, and open in 16 theaters in Japan on August 24. Voice actress and singer Nana Mizuki is performing the ending theme song.
The film was scheduled to ship on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in Japan on September 25, but the release was delayed until October 25. The staff had planned to sell advance copies of the Blu-ray Disc version during the volume’s August 24-September 6 theatrical run, but the time required to manufacture the Blu-ray Discs and DVDs is preventing this.
Production I.G and its partners screened the first episode of the television anime with an English dub at Anime Expo last month. The web simulcast for the anime had announced in April that the series is launching overseas under the title Star Blazers 2199.
The first episode of the television series premiered in Japan on April 7.

The official website for the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 film series announced on Monday that part of the seventh and final installation, Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Part 7: Soshite Kan wa Iku, will not be shown during its theatrical screenings “to maintain an acceptable level of quality for the viewers.”
The film will be a compilation of episodes 23 through 26 of the television series remake. However, part of episode of 25 will be removed from the screenings. The staff assured fans that the other three episodes will be shown in their entirety, and the removed section will not affect the viewers’ enjoyment of the story. In addition, the full version of episode 25 will be on the eventual Blu-ray Disc and DVD release.
The film will open in 16 theaters in Japan on August 24. A TV commercial began airing earlier this month.

Ep. 25 hmm in the original, that’s the Iscandar episode, where they finally pick up the Cosmo DNA / Cosmo Reverser system. I wonder if it has something to do with the certain person who’s found to be alive in that episode, or the director didn’t like how Iscandar itself looked.
Considering the exorcized part will be on the release, someone probably got a little sloppy in the animation department.
Extracting it from the screenings would give them time to fix it for the release, without hindering their reputation with their fans.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Anime Gets Brand New Film

2014 film announced at end of TV anime’s final episode
The final episode of the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 anime that aired on Sunday revealed that a brand new film for the anime has been green-lit for next year.
With Space Battleship Yamato 2199, director Yutaka Izubuchi (RahXephon) remade the classic space opera anime Space Battleship Yamato. The project debuted in Japan last April as a series of installments in theaters, but it was planned from the beginning as a television series as well. The first episode aired on television in April of this year, and the final installment of episodes played in a limited number of theaters in Japan starting on August 24, before running on television.
The original Space Battleship Yamato television anime series was dubbed and partly rewritten in English as Star Blazers.

According to some of the Scuttlebutt (rumors) Flying around about the new movie, is that it’s a side story detailing a Gatlantis (Comet Empire) and Gamilas conflict that takes place parallel to the Yamato’s trip to Iscandar.
