Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld

Plot Summary: Time has passed since Kirito defeated the pontifex. While Bercoulli seeks to rebuild and bolster the defenses of the human lands in anticipation of an assault by the forces of darkness, Alice fears for the catatonic Kirito’s safety and so relocates to a cabin near Rulid. She may not be accepted in the village, but at least she’s near her sister Selka as she looks after Kirito. Though she feels that she cannot swing her sword anymore except to cut down trees, an attack on Rulid may force her to act anyway.

Yay!
More Kajiura music!

I’m kind of hoping Sentai picks this up for July (along with both seasons of YuruYuri) since it actually looks like a rather interesting concept, plus it has a Kajiura soundtrack.

So it’s the second coming of .hack//fill in the blank.
That’s cool, and I take it it’s an Aniplex show going by the trailer.
Maybe they’ll keep it for themselves.

Except maybe…

The main character will actually fight something instead of walking around doing nothing the whole time like in .hack//SIGN

I don’t see how they can keep churning out entire series which revolve around this concept. The Matrix did it over a decade ago, and it did it better. Even gits:sac (ugh) covered this a bit, and though it pains me to say it, both shows went much deeper. C’mon japan, even though the show was underwhelming on every front I’d rather have another gits than this. What makes this truly different from, as was said, .hack? Bring back deeper sci-fi Anime (and thus concludes the fan rant for the post lol)!

The soundtrack might be good, though I haven’t found any of her works to be as good as her work on the mai-hime/otome series.

Ep. 01

I had high hopes for this one and that first episode didn’t disappoint!
I’m looking forward to how this will turn out.

Ep. 02

That was flippin’ awesome!

spoiler

We get to meet Asuna, and she’s just one badass with that sword.
Kirito also shows his mettle, though I’m not quite sure why he had a sudden personality switch at the end there, other than trying to defuse the situation before it escalated beyond control and PVP started happening.

Not sure why he broke off the party with Asuna either, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see if his reasonings get explained, at least a little bit.

Please don’t let AoA get it, please don’t let AoA get it, please…

:silly:

I’m praying for that to be the case as well.
As of right now though, I can say with some confidence AoA is not in posession of it currently.
That doesn’t say anything for its future, but…

  1. It’s on CR unannounced by them before hand.
  2. None of the urls they would use for the series are taken by them or an Aniplex affiliate according to the WHOIS information.

Also, it is one of two out of the 10 that was announced all at once by CR that Sentai hasn’t announced, my guess (or hope at least) is that Sentai has it and are just sitting on it like they’ve done with a few of their recent CR titles.
Interestingly enough, when they added the AX announced titles, all but Horizon was tagged summer_2012 (which has since been removed) of which, none of the 3 announced titles before that, nor the 6 after that got that tag before they removed it completely.

I just got up-to-date with this show (wasn’t hard with only 2 eps) and while it has some issues, I’m enjoying it. The Crunchyroll subs are hilarious. It totally needs a dub, and not just any dub, a Sentai dub. The only problem with that is that the black dude with the hammer totally could be Patrick Seitz, who has yet to do any Seraphim dubs, afaik lol.

If AoA gets this, then I probably won’t be able to, and that would make me sad :frowning:

I don’t see how eating and drinking in the virtual world actually nourishes your physical body. I’m hoping that they develop the nutjob who created the lethal game, character wise. I thought it was interesting that even though the main character seems gullible and easily guilted that he is also a total dick, to put it mildly.
